In The Second Year Of The Pandemic, Professions In Technology, Finance, Sales, And Marketing Continue To Grow More And More
The year 2021 continued to face challenges stemming from the pandemic in the professional sphere: even with the advancement of vaccination and the initial recovery of the economy, the job market almost always suffers the most in recovering. The unemployment rate decreased from 13.4% to 12.6% in November, but the number represents over 13.4 million people looking to re-enter the job market. As a result, professions in technology, finance, and sales have increased in value and are being sought after by the job market.

“In terms of the job market, 2021 was the beginning of a recovery, still very complex. The advancement of vaccination and the easing of restriction measures undoubtedly helped in the recovery of economic activity in general,” says Leonardo Berto, recruitment manager at Robert Half.
The economy is trying to recover after the drastic drop caused by the pandemic in 2020. Brazil’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) fell slightly in the third quarter of 2021 compared to the second quarter of the same year, around 0.1%. This represents the second consecutive quarter of stability. In current values, GDP in the country reached R$ 2.2 trillion.

For 2022, Berto believes it could be the year of consolidation of this recovery, with a hotter job market.
The manager sees 2021 as a year that underwent a process of unearthing projects. “Thus, for 2022, we can expect that positions that were laid off due to the pandemic will be reinstated, especially hires for positions related to company growth, professionals who help generate revenue in various ways and angles,” he says.
Because of this, Berto believes the highlights will be positions in sales and marketing aimed at customer acquisition and retention; technology, considering the data science sector; more technical areas, such as engineering and its applications in business; finance and accounting to ensure the company stays on track regarding finances; and human resources in talent management.
Technology
The technology sector is unanimous regarding job availability. “However, it is a sector that faces many challenges in finding qualified labor; it requires specific knowledge. Those with expertise become sought-after and well-paid professionals, including good benefits packages, due to the lack of supply,” says Berto.
In this segment, it is possible to achieve a salary range between R$ 5,350.00 and R$ 21,950.00, not considering the higher positions. Information security coordinator, software architect, and data scientist are professionals who enjoy excellent remuneration in the area.
Human Resources
During the pandemic, the sector gained great prominence in companies. “The HR team handles various agendas and can manage what is most precious for the company: the people. After all, without them, nothing is possible. And those who think differently will feel the negative effects of lacking management and professionalization of the HR team,” says Berto.
With salary expectations ranging between R$5,900.00 and R$ 41,200.00, positions like HR director and manager are generally the highest-paid in the segment.
Sales And Marketing
With the growing need to acquire customers, the sales and marketing sector will be one of the main ones in 2022. “As companies seek to consolidate growth or recovery next year, sectors that generate revenue for companies will be crucial. And this sector attracts customers and creates new business,” reminds Berto.
In this area, one can expect an average salary ranging from R$ 5,600 to R$ 34,400.00 in positions such as account executive and Head of Growth.
