Founded in 1910, Bar Guanabara is the oldest in São Paulo and one of the great symbols of the city’s bohemian life. Located in the Historic Center, it has become a must-stop for those wishing to dive into São Paulo’s gastronomic and cultural roots, attracting both tourists and locals in search of an authentic experience.

Throughout more than a century, Bar Guanabara has hosted various illustrious figures. Politicians such as Getúlio Vargas, Jânio Quadros, and Adhemar de Barros have frequented the place, as well as renowned artists like Raul Seixas, Geraldo Vandré, and Benito Di Paula.

Among the most curious stories is the legend that Santos Dumont, the father of aviation, also passed through and even drew small airplanes on napkins.

Classic Gastronomy and New Phase

The menu at Guanabara maintains traditional recipes, such as parmegiana, grilled picanha, and feijoada. The highlight is the coxa creme, considered the house specialty. To accompany, customers can choose between draft beer, natural juices, or alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

Celebrating its 115th anniversary, the bar recently announced improvements in its infrastructure and a revitalization of the menu, promising an even more special experience without losing its essence.

Bar Guanabara is located at Avenida São João, 128, and operates Monday to Friday from 11:30 AM to 4 PM, and on Saturdays until 5 PM.
