The dream of owning a renowned brand vehicle can quickly turn into a nightmare for many owners. Some popular cars, although attractive and from well-known manufacturers, are famous for frustrating their owners with exorbitant maintenance costs. Thus, in this article, we present some cars from Hyundai, Volvo, and Volkswagen considered “problematic cars” in the market.

One of the biggest concerns of luxury car owners is not just the initial price but also the cost of parts and repairs. Surprisingly, these costs can exceed the selling price of the car, forcing owners to reconsider their choices. Next, we explore the ten defective cars that most often lead their owners to this difficult decision.

Range Rover

Despite its prestige, the brand faces criticism for high maintenance costs and chronic problems, such as turbines that can cost up to R$ 7 thousand. It is worth noting that the brand ranks among the worst in reliability, with over 244 problems reported in 100 surveyed vehicles.

Mitsubishi Pajero Sport

With a considerable purchase price, this is one of the popular cars with the highest repair costs, with parts prices exceeding R$ 8,500 for simple headlights. Among the main issues of the model is the 4N15 engine, which has a chronic problem with cracks in the exhaust manifold, causing the engine to lose power and enter safety mode.

Hyundai Santa Fe

This is one of the Hyundai cars considered one of the “defective cars” of the brand with the highest maintenance cost, having already reached over R$ 26 thousand in mechanical problems.

The Santa Fe is one of the Hyundai cars that has a suspension set that suffers significant wear, especially due to the vehicle’s weight and the poor road conditions in Brazil. Among other issues are braking, transmission, high fuel consumption, among others.

Volkswagen Golf with DSG Transmission

In addition to Hyundai cars, the famous Volkswagen brand also has defective cars. A malfunctioning transmission can cost over R$ 20 thousand, making it a financial risk for buyers.

Volvo XC60

Although Volvo is a reliable brand, this is one of the defective cars that buyers should stay away from. A minor issue with the power steering pump for this model can cost over R$ 9 thousand, surprising many owners.

Jeep Grand Cherokee

Stepping a bit away from popular cars, we have the Jeep Grand Cherokee, known for its comfort and robustness; this model can incur astronomical expenses. Owners report maintenance costs reaching R$ 223 thousand, making selling often more advantageous.

Audi A3

This is one of the problematic cars well-known for chronic issues, especially in the transmission, with repair costs reaching R$ 15 thousand, making it a car for the bold. Other issues include right headlights costing up to R$ 3,800. The turbo engine requires specialized maintenance and oil changes with the correct product.

Volkswagen Amarok

Volkswagen remains on the list of problematic cars with its famous pickup, which can weigh on the wallet, with a list of basic repairs reaching R$ 23,948.92 and insurance of R$ 30 thousand.

BMW X1

Fun comes at a high price, and this is one of the defective cars with the highest repair costs in the suspension, which can reach up to R$ 15 thousand for simple damages.

Subaru Forester

To conclude the list of problematic cars is the Subaru Forester, with an extremely high cost of parts; it is better to avoid accidents, as simple repairs can cost thousands of reais.
