It was the sector that created the most opportunities, both with formal contracts and with informal or freelance workers last year.

The city of Maringá, in the state of Paraná, is an example; according to data from the job balance released by Caged, the construction sector performed best among the recent job opportunities created. In 2021, this indicator continues to show growth, with an increase in formal job numbers in January, which had a net gain of 249.
The construction area generates 10,938 formal job positions in Maringá, accounting for 7.3% of the total formal job vacancies in the city, injecting about 23 million reais into the economy per month through salary payments.
The segments of the construction industry that created the most jobs in 2020 were real estate developments, energy projects, telecommunications, water, sewage, and pipeline transportation. In January 2021, the area of construction that stood out was building construction.
