The Fire Department of RS Opened 440 Positions for Temporary Lifeguards. Applications Until 9/25, Salaries Up to R$ 2,100.

The Fire Department of Rio Grande do Sul (CBM-RS) initiated a selection process for hiring 440 temporary lifeguards for summer operations.

Applications started on August 27, 2025 and will go until September 25, and selected candidates will receive compensation of up to R$ 2,100 during training.

The selection aims to enhance safety at the state’s beaches and resorts this upcoming season, aligning technical preparation with risk prevention for the population.

New Selection Process of the Fire Department

The announcement includes two modalities: new candidates and recertification for those who have served in previous operations.

There are 80 positions reserved for new lifeguards and up to 360 for recertification of professionals who worked between 2020 and 2025.

The geographical division still separates the state into the southern and northern halves, with positions based on regional demand.

Basic Requirements to Participate

To Enter the Firefighters’ Selection Process, the Candidate Must:

  • Be Brazilian, aged between 18 and 55 years
  • Have completed elementary school
  • Be up to date with military service and electoral obligations
  • Present a negative certificate of criminal record
  • Pass physical fitness, health, and background checks
  • Not have been dismissed from duty in the last three years for serious misconduct

The technical training will provide a proportional salary of R$ 2,100, paid during the training course.

Stages of the Selection Process

The Selection Process for Lifeguards Includes:

  1. Mental and physical health examination (eliminatory)
  2. Physical fitness evaluation (classifying and eliminatory)
  3. Background check (eliminatory)
  4. Technical training (for new candidates) or recertification (for former candidates) — classifying and eliminatory

The training will preferably take place in Porto Alegre and Rio Grande, with the possibility of expansion to other centers as decided by CBM-RS.

How and Where to Apply for Positions at the Fire Department?

Interested parties must register exclusively on the official website of the Fire Department of RS (bombeiros.rs.gov.br) between August 27 and September 25, 2025, until 11:59 PM.

At the time of application, it is possible to choose between working in ocean waters or inland waters, as well as the modality (training or recertification).

Employment Contract and Duration of Service

The hired individuals will work as temporary lifeguards between November and April, the peak season at the state’s beaches and resorts.

The contract may be adjusted according to the corporation’s needs, always focusing on the safety of bathers.

With the opening of the selection process for lifeguards, the CBM-RS reinforces its commitment to prevention and public safety during the summer.
