At the last press conference held by Anfavea on Thursday (05), according to the UOL portal, the atmosphere was one of total crisis. Márcio de Lima Leite, president of the National Association of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (Anfavea), issued a serious warning about the current situation of the Brazilian automotive market.
“If Brazil does not address this immediately, we run the risk of having production impacted, including plant closures in the second half,” he said. According to the cited website, the warning sparked a red flag among manufacturers, who see the threat of the influx of Chinese electric cars as a major problem for the national industry.

In the first half of 2024, for example, there were nearly 200 thousand registrations of imported vehicles, 38% more than in the same period of 2023. China accounted for 78% of imports, with an impressive increase of 449%.
