OpenAI Launches Free Online Course (EAD) on AI for Educators! Empower Yourself and Apply Technology in the Classroom.
The program, titled “ChatGPT Foundations for K-12 Educators”, was developed in partnership with the NGO Common Sense Media and provides valuable resources for schools and teachers completely free of charge. The free online course (EAD), lasting one hour and divided into nine classes, covers fundamental topics about AI and offers guidance on how to use it ethically and safely in the school environment, ensuring students’ privacy and security.
Available on the Common Sense Media website, the course is taught in English and does not require a ChatGPT subscription for access. This is the first public project resulting from the partnership between the OpenAI and the NGO, with promises of future collaborations to expand AI’s educational reach.
Why the Free AI Course is Essential for Educators?
Generative artificial intelligence is rapidly changing interactively with technology, being capable of creating texts, images, music, and other original content from existing data. Tools like ChatGPT and DALL·E are prominent examples of this type of technology, which utilize advanced models, such as neural networks and transformers, to produce creative and consistent results.

Based on large volumes of data, these tools can identify patterns and create unprecedented materials that are already being applied in areas such as entertainment, design, health, and especially education. In the educational field, with the free online course (EAD), generative AI enables the development of personalized content, facilitating learning and innovation in teaching.
Responsible Use of AI
Despite its advantages, the technology also brings ethical challenges, such as issues concerning copyright, damages to creations, and the use of deepfakes. These concerns underline the importance of a free online course (EAD) like the one offered by OpenAI, which not only empowers educators but also encourages the responsible use of AI.
This new initiative reinforces OpenAI’s commitment to making artificial intelligence accessible and available, not only to specialists but also to professionals who wish to integrate it into their routines, like teachers. This is an important step to prepare the educational environment for future demands.
