After Petrobras Adjustment, It Is Possible to Find Gasoline at Some Gas Stations for Up to R$ 9 in Paraná
The price of gasoline reached R$ 9 at a gas station in Curitiba, the capital of Paraná. This may be the highest price in Brazil at the moment, and the high sale of fuel was already expected after Petrobras announced another adjustment on the 8th of this month, which also includes cooking gas. One of the reasons for the rise in fuel prices is related to the price parity used by Petrobras, which links fuel adjustments to fluctuations in the dollar and also to international oil prices.

Petrobras and Federal Government Comment on Fuel Adjustment
The increase in Paraná is 7.19% in the price of gasoline, which, according to Petrobras, managed to keep prices stable without causing shortages for 58 days. In relation to cooking gas, the increase was 7.22%, with the price going from R$ 3.60 to R$ 3.86 per kg.
According to the state-owned company, the adjustments in fuel prices are a result of the rise in international oil price levels, impacted by limited supply due to increasing global demand, and the exchange rate, given the strengthening of the dollar worldwide. Regarding the gasoline increases, President Jair Bolsonaro stated that he cannot freeze price increases based on “pen strokes,” during the 1st Brazilian Niobium Fair, which was held in Campinas.
