Yara Marine Aims to Implement a New Technology Called WindWings from BAR Tech, Which Uses Wind Power as the Propulsion for Ships at Sea
The wind power technology for ships at sea WindWings is a new technology composed of sails that are about 45 meters tall, installed on the deck of the ships. BAR Technologies has formed a partnership with Yara Marine, a manufacturer of purifiers. According to BAR tech, the new technology, which uses wind power on ships at sea, offers a reduction of up to 30% in diesel consumption for some large ships. Additionally, to further reduce it, wind power propulsion is combined with route optimization.

Words from Company Directors – The Success of Offshore Wind Energy
The partnership with Yara, to deliver the first installation of the technology that uses wind power at sea, marks the reference as a legitimate start of the industry.
The company believes that the combination of experiences from both companies will characterize the technology for a long time, achieving commercial success within a timeframe. In the future, it will be the right moment for the offshore technology to be offered globally, states CEO of BAR Technologies, John Cooper.

The CEO of Yara Marine Technologies, Thomas Koniordos, stated that the offshore wind energy technology from BAR Tech will be a significant step towards putting the shipping industry on the right path to eliminate carbon emissions.
The President of Ocean Transportation at Cargill, Jan Dieleman, said that wind energy propulsion, due to its high potential for being economically viable, is becoming increasingly important in the market and works well with various combinations of other fuels.
Renewable Energies in Ships

Wind, hydrogen, and solar energy can be part of power generation and propulsion systems in ships at sea, thus eliminating the consumption of fossil fuels.
A great example of innovation in this area is the Tesla Ship, which are cargo vessels powered by wind and solar energy through contracts with companies operating in the local area near the ports where the vessels will dock. There, the Ships can be recharged and have their loading swapped.
About Yara Marine
Yara Marine Technologies has been a reference in the industry of reducing pollutant emissions since 2010, and has since become one of the largest suppliers in the world of high-quality scrubber systems in wind energy, with approximately 400 systems installed, preventing tons of CO2 from being emitted.
Currently, the company offers a vast portfolio of sustainable projects for ships to ensure a healthy society for future generations.
