Its main function is to allow the president and the high command of the country to make strategic decisions even in scenarios of nuclear war, cyberattacks, or natural disasters.

This is where the C-17 Globemaster III comes in, a robust and reliable aircraft designed for military cargo transport. But there is a problem: the C-17 lacks the necessary facilities to function as a command center. Its interior is geared towards logistical operations, without the communication and security stations of the E-4B.
The C-17 Globemaster III Enters the Scene
The C-17 Globemaster III is a giant in the skies, developed to transport troops, armored vehicles, and equipment anywhere in the world. With its sturdy fuselage and ability to operate on short and improvised runways, it is a key player in U.S. military transport.
However, when it comes to transporting VVIPs (Very Very Important Persons), such as the Secretary of Defense or military commanders, the C-17 has a significant limitation: its cargo hold does not provide secure communication infrastructure. This means that, without adaptations, this aircraft would not be a viable alternative to the E-4B.
Silver Bullet: The Ultra-Secure Capsule Inside the C-17
The solution found for this problem was the Silver Bullet, a modular capsule that can be installed inside the C-17, temporarily transforming it into a military command aircraft.
The installation process involves: Transportation of the capsule in a trailer to the airbase. Securely fastening it in the cargo hold of the C-17. Connecting a complex cable system that ensures encrypted communication.
This ultra-secure capsule allows the high command of the U.S. to continue coordinating military operations without relying on the Doomsday Plane.
