Used Electric Car Market Expanding In Brazil? Know Which Cheap Electric Cars Are Dominating The List Of Classifieds For Less Than R$ 80 Thousand!

As sales rise, used electric cars are gaining prominence. With the arrival of cheap Chinese electric cars like the BYD Dolphin and JAC E-JS1 and some other entry-level options like the Renault Kwid E-Tech, it’s not hard to find options of cheap electric cars under R$ 100,000 in the classifieds. We have gathered all the used electric car options for less than R$ 80,000 in Brazil.

Caoa Chery iCar – Starting At R$ 76,000

For a while, the Chery iCar was the cheapest electric car in Brazil. This was Caoa Chery’s bet, making the subcompact the choice for those looking for a car just to cope with daily traffic.

It is one of the compact cheap electric cars. Its motor has 61 hp and 15.3 kgfm and the 30.4 kWh battery allows for only 197 km of range, according to Inmetro. Measuring just 3.2 meters in length, it is somewhat cramped, especially in the rear seats.

Renault Kwid E-Tech – Starting At R$ 65,000

As one of the cheapest used electric cars in Brazil, the Renault Kwid E-Tech has not had an easy life. Launched at R$ 142,990, it was supposed to dominate the segment, but delivery delays caused it to lose precious moments and end up seeing the competition arrive and occupy its space.

Instead of the combustion engine, the Kwid E-Tech brings an electric motor with 65 hp and 11.5 kgfm, a configuration exclusive to Brazil. It has one of the smallest batteries on the list, with only 26.8 kWh, yielding 185 km of range based on Inmetro’s measurement.

JAC E-JS1 – Starting At R$ 80,000

Another in the list of the most affordable used electric cars in the country is the JAC E-JS1, which sold quite well for a few months, so there are many used units with a wide variation of prices. It is possible to find units for R$ 80,000 with nearly 29,000 km driven.

Despite the improvements made compared to the iEV20, it doesn’t have one of the best ranges, with just 161 km according to Inmetro, even though it has 30.2 kWh batteries. It is also not one of the most powerful, with 62 hp and 15.3 kgfm.

Caoa Chery Arrizo 5e – Starting At R$ 90,000

This is one of the cheap electric cars so rare that some even forget it was launched. It was the same compact sedan, replacing the combustion engine with an electric system, and it was first aimed at direct sales, priced at R$ 159,900, which was considered very expensive at the time.

The battery is 53.5 kWh, but the declared range was 322 km. By current Inmetro standards, this number would drop by 30%, resulting in a range of 225 km. Instead of the 1.5 turbo, there is an electric motor with 122 hp and 28.1 kgfm.

Nissan Leaf – Starting At R$ 96,000

For those looking for one of the slightly larger cheap electric cars, an option is the Nissan Leaf. The medium hatch is one of the first electrics in the country and is one of the easiest to find in used car lots.

The 149 hp and 32.6 kgfm motor is good; however, the energy comes from 40 kWh batteries, which provide 192 km of range, low compared to more modern cars.

Renault Zoe – Starting At R$ 86,000

The Renault Zoe is a more refined model, but in the used electric car market, it is necessary to search a lot, as it usually costs well over R$ 100,000, even though it has been out of production for a few years.

This model has a motor with 92 hp and 22.4 kgfm, while the battery was 41 kWh, giving it a range of 300 km according to the European WLTP testing cycle. At the time, Inmetro did not yet measure for electrics, and applying the 30% rule, the range would be about 210 km.

BYD Dolphin Mini – Starting At R$ 75,800

Recently launched, the BYD Dolphin Mini is one of the best-selling cheap electric cars in the country. Although it’s new in stores, some owners are already selling the model for well below R$ 100,000 and with few kilometers driven.

According to Inmetro, it has the greatest range of all the used cars on this list, capable of going 280 km, even though the 38.8 kWh battery is not the largest in the ranking. Made for city life, its motor delivers 75 hp and 13.8 kgfm.
