Elon Musk looks at Brazil and lowers the price of Starlink, his internet: price at Magalu drops again in May and portable antenna with dual band Wi-Fi 5, 3×3 MU-MIMO technology, and satellite connection becomes a target for Brazilians in areas without fiber, 4G, or 5G.

The Starlink Mini Kit reappeared with a discount at Magalu in May, offered at R$ 649 with the use of a coupon and payment via Pix, although the latest retail check shows the product listed for R$ 799 on Pix, with the possibility of a discount applied only at the final purchase stage.

With the reduction in equipment cost, Starlink’s satellite internet has once again attracted consumers living in regions without fiber optics or efficient mobile coverage, especially in rural areas, roads, remote properties, and locations where 4G or 5G are consistently unstable.

According to the announced offer, the coupon 150STARLINK should be applied at the final purchase stage, combined with payment via Pix and free shipping, reducing the kit’s price to R$ 649 in a promotional campaign that gained prominence among consumers interested in satellite internet.

Still, such discounts tend to vary according to stock, delivery region, responsible seller, and coupon validity, which is why the final price needs to be confirmed directly in the cart, especially since Magalu already displays prices different from those presented in the initial promotion.

The product listed at the retailer appears as Starlink Mini Kit for satellite internet, with dual-band Wi-Fi 5, 3×3 MU-MIMO technology, Ethernet port, WPA2 standard, and a simple installation proposal, aimed at residential or mobile use.

Created to facilitate transport, installation, and use in locations with limited infrastructure, the Starlink Mini is a compact version of the brand’s satellite internet equipment, mainly aimed at consumers who need mobility or remote network access.

In practice, the kit represents only the entry point to the service, as the connection depends on subscribing to a monthly plan responsible for granting access to Starlink’s satellite constellation after the complete activation of the equipment.

Unlike conventional connections available in urban centers, the system operates without relying on fiber optic cables, terrestrial mobile antennas, or physical networks installed by local operators, using direct communication with satellites positioned in orbit.

By serving regions far from major urban centers, the equipment has begun to attract interest among residents of rural areas, producers, frequent travelers, motorhome users, and consumers who need to maintain a constant connection even in hard-to-reach locations.

After purchasing the equipment, the consumer still needs to subscribe to a monthly plan to activate the connection and use the Starlink network continuously, as the kit sold at retail does not include automatic access to the service.

Currently, the Brazilian Starlink page shows the Residential plan of 100 Mbps for R$ 179, while the Residential Max appears for R$ 235.52 and the Residential Family is listed for R$ 401, according to the most recent consultation on the official platform.

These values partially differ from the prices reported in previous publications, which cited Residential Max for R$ 236 and Residential Family for R$ 354, a difference that reinforces the need to check the updated conditions directly on the official site before subscribing.

Although the discount on the equipment reduces the initial cost of entry into the service, the monthly fee remains an important factor in the final calculation, especially for users who intend to keep the connection active permanently.

At fixed addresses with common domestic use needs, the basic residential plan can support activities such as browsing, streaming, video calls, and online classes, provided the installation has an adequate view of the sky and few physical barriers nearby.

When Satellite Internet is Worth It

Consumers who daily face the absence of fiber optics, limited mobile coverage, or unstable regional services tend to find more advantages in the satellite internet model offered by Starlink compared to the traditional alternatives available in these areas.

In well-served urban regions by conventional operators, the investment may lose financial attractiveness, as fiber plans usually cost less per month and do not require the upfront purchase of a personal antenna for operation.

Even so, for those who need internet on sites, farms, roads, long trips, or isolated properties, Starlink’s proposal remains to offer a connection less dependent on the physical infrastructure installed on the ground.

The decisive point ends up being the usage profile.

Although the promotional price of the equipment may seem attractive at first, the purchase tends to make more sense for consumers who really intend to maintain an active monthly subscription after the complete installation of the system.

Before completing the purchase, it is worth checking the updated price in the cart, the validity of the promotional coupon, the payment conditions via Pix, the estimated delivery time, and the compatibility of the chosen plan with the intended usage profile.

In addition, promotions advertised by major retailers often change quickly when they depend on temporary campaigns, limited stock, or specific conditions released only in certain regions or app versions.

Another important point involves the total cost required to keep the service running continuously after the initial installation of the equipment.

Even if the kit appears for R$ 649 in a one-time offer, the final cost of the operation still includes a monthly fee, possible plan changes, and additional accessories that may vary depending on the location chosen for antenna installation.

The Starlink Mini reduces the initial barrier for those who need satellite connection, but the purchase decision remains directly linked to the available coverage, the monthly budget, and the absence of more economical terrestrial alternatives in the region.
