The Kymco Like 125 EV is equipped with a small electric motor of up to 3.2 kW, equivalent to about 4.3 horsepower. It has enough space to carry up to five batteries, allowing it to achieve up to 199 km of range on a single charge.

The battery technology is Ionex, created by Kymco itself. According to the brand, only 1 hour is enough for the electric scooter to be fully charged. Each of the batteries has a lifecycle of a thousand cycles of charge and discharge.

The electric scooter features a design similar to that of combustion models, such as the Like 125 and Like 150, which are popular in European and Asian countries. The electric variant includes some more refined elements, such as the headlight cover, for example. The passenger grab handle and headlamp frame have a striking blue finish, making the electric scooter with great autonomy stand out from gasoline-powered equivalents.

Kymco Electric Scooter Costs Only R$ 7,706

To achieve this level of range, the model has a declared weight of 94 kg, excluding the batteries, making urban commutes more agile. Additionally, the scooter comes equipped with Bluetooth connectivity.

Through an app, it is possible to access information such as average speed and battery level. The instrument panel, besides displaying all the information prominently and legibly, is fully digital.

The Kymco Like 125 EV will hit the market costing about 1,200 euros (R$ 7,706) in Europe, making it relatively affordable for the general public. Now, we just have to wait and see if the brand will devise a different strategy for other markets, such as parts of Latin America and the rest of Asia.

Electric Scooter Market Expands

The Chinese company Okai announced in September the launch of its new model, the Okai EA10A. The model reaches speeds of about 25 km/h and has enough range to navigate urban areas easily, and the best part is that, in addition to being cheap, the scooter does not require a driver’s license to ride.

Besides being practical, it has pedals in case the batteries run out, is foldable, and takes up little space. The model is already available for sale on several websites at varying prices.

Those looking to purchase it will find an average price of US$ 399, which directly converts to R$ 2,063. For those planning to buy to resell, the price per scooter drops to US$ 359 (R$ 1,855) when purchasing 200 units.
