The Federal Institute of Alagoas (IFAL) Is Offering 450 Spots for Free and Fully Online Undergraduate Courses, Starting in the Second Semester of 2025.

The opportunities are part of the Distance Education (EAD) modality and are distributed across different locations in the state of Alagoas.

The announcement includes inclusion policies, affirmative actions, and a teaching model designed to increase access to higher education in Brazil.

The initiative reinforces IFAL’s commitment to the democratization of public and free education, facilitating the entry of people from different socioeconomic backgrounds.

With the offering of undergraduate courses in Language Studies – Portuguese, Biological Sciences, and Pedagogy, the 2025.2 entrance exam aims to transform the lives of hundreds of students who wish to enter higher education without leaving home.

Accessible and Inclusive Higher Education

According to announcement No. 22/2025/DSI/PROEN-IFAL, already amended and updated, the spots are distributed between open competition and quota systems, ensuring opportunities for low-income candidates, self-declared black, brown, indigenous individuals, people with disabilities, and public school teachers.

In addition, 70% of the spots are reserved for graduates from public education, reinforcing IFAL’s social role in combating educational inequalities.

Another important measure is the granting of a 10% regional bonus on the final average for candidates who completed all their high school education in schools in Alagoas, encouraging local educational development.

The pedagogical structure has been carefully developed to combine flexibility with academic excellence, allowing students to balance studies with work and other responsibilities.

Students will have support from tutors, updated teaching materials, in-person activities at the locations, and continuous monitoring by professors.

The hybrid model allows part of the activities to occur virtually, but also guarantees mandatory in-person meetings, which contributes to the critical and practical training of future professionals.

Why Study at IFAL?

The Federal Institute of Alagoas is one of the most respected institutions in the Northeast regarding free technical and higher education.

Founded in 1909, IFAL has over 100 years of tradition in public education, offering quality courses, modern infrastructure, and a highly qualified faculty.

In addition, IFAL is part of the Federal Network of Professional, Scientific, and Technological Education, nationally recognized for its role in training professionals for the country’s development.

With this new offer of spots, IFAL expands its reach and reaffirms its mission to promote inclusion, knowledge, and opportunities through education.

Who Can Participate in the Selection Process

Any person who has completed high school or equivalent by the registration date can apply for the selection process.

This includes students graduated from regular schools, through ENEM, Encceja, or certification via Youth and Adult Education (EJA).

The selection process is divided into two phases, allowing for a more comprehensive assessment of candidates’ academic performance:

  1. First phase (online): analysis of the averages of the subjects of Portuguese Language and Mathematics, referring to the 1st and 2nd years of high school. In this phase, up to three candidates are classified per spot for the next stage.
  2. Second phase (in-person): essay test administered at the location chosen by the candidate. The essay score will be the main criterion for final classification.

In case of a tie, the system will adopt criteria such as the best average in Portuguese and the highest age.

Registrations are already open and will run until May 18, 2025, exclusively through the official website http://exame.ifal.edu.br.

The entire process is free, secure, and completely digital, facilitating access for candidates from different regions.
