Salary, Benefits, and Career: What Awaits the First Women Who Will Serve as Soldiers in the Brazilian Army.

The Brazilian Army will take a historic step in 2026: for the first time, women will serve as soldiers in the Federal District. This change represents an important milestone in female inclusion in the Armed Forces and comes with an adjusted starting salary.

Brazilian Army Reveals Salary of New Recruits

The first women approved for military service will receive a salary of R$ 1,177, which takes effect from January 2026. Currently, soldiers receive R$ 1,127.

This increase is part of a tiered adjustment plan, approved through a provisional measure, which anticipates payments in 2025 and 2026.

The selected candidates will not only receive a salary. They will also have accommodation, food, and assistance during their service period.

35 Women Have Already Been Selected

The selection process for mandatory military service in the DF has already selected 35 candidates. Their entrance symbolizes an achievement that has been debated for years: the female presence in soldier positions in areas where this was still not allowed.

Those who join now can build a solid career within the Armed Forces. Over time, it is possible to gain promotions and reach higher salaries, surpassing R$ 13,000 in positions such as brigade general, air commodore, or rear admiral.

Enrollment Is Open to Register in the Brazilian Army

Interested women still have time to apply. The deadline for female military enlistment in the DF is until June 30, with in-person registrations at the Military Service Boards or through the official website.
