Data from the Veloe Panorama Show Variations in Fuel Prices; Ethanol Increased by 21.6% in 12 Months, but There Was a Decrease in March 2025.

Fuel prices have been a topic of intense debate in the financial market. In April 2025, a striking report revealed that, in the last 12 months, there was a significant increase of 21.6% in ethanol prices. This directly impacted the choices of many drivers between ethanol, regular gasoline, and diesel. With the volatile economic landscape, ethanol stood out, driving significant increases in fuel prices. Regular gasoline and diesel, while also subject to fluctuations, remained relatively more stable compared to ethanol.

The research, released by the renowned Veloe Panorama, indicated that March 2025 brought signs of stabilization. The data from the Veloe Panorama showed that not only ethanol but also diesel and regular gasoline, exhibited small fluctuations in their average prices, thereby avoiding more dramatic increases. Interestingly, compressed natural gas (CNG) remained a viable and more stable cost option for drivers looking to save on fuel expenses. This research provides a close look at market trends, allowing consumers to better adapt to changes.

The Role of Fuels in the Current Economy

In the current context, fuel prices play a crucial role in the cost composition of various sectors. Especially in March 2025, many experts are paying attention to the strength of ethanol as an economic thermometer. The growing demand for this fuel led to a significant variation measured from the data of the Veloe Panorama. This increase not only impacted the consumer’s pocket but also posed challenges for truck drivers and fleet owners who depend on diesel. The average monthly values have the potential to determine, influence, and, in some cases, redirect market behavior.

On the other hand, CNG continued to gain followers, particularly among taxi drivers and ride-hailing drivers due to its price stability. CNG showed resilience amid fluctuations in other fuels like ethanol and regular gasoline.

Detailed Analysis of Recorded Prices

The values recorded in March revealed a slight adjustment in the prices of the most used fuels. Despite the slight price restraint, consumers still need to remain alert to future variations. Future reports from the Veloe Panorama promise more detailed information, allowing both individuals and companies to be prepared to deal with market changes.

It is important to highlight that sources like the Veloe Panorama become a vital reference for understanding the dynamics of fuel prices in Brazil. With the ongoing economic dependency on these energy resources, monthly follow-ups will show us how the impact will be in the medium and long term.

Sustainable mobility is not only present in traditional means; the transition to less harmful fuels to the environment is already underway. Stay tuned and informed about every move in this volatile market!

Decrease in Fuel Prices

Fuel prices, including regular gasoline and ethanol, experienced a slight reduction of 0.2% at gas stations. Drivers can now find regular gasoline at R$ 6.422 and ethanol at R$ 4.427 per liter. This declining trend in values was accompanied by diesel, both regular and S-10, which recorded a decrease of 0.4% in prices. In contrast, CNG showed an average increase of 0.5% at gas stations across Brazil.

Data from the Veloe Panorama

The gathered data comes from the Veloe Mobility Indicators Panorama, which is prepared in partnership with the Economic Research Institute Foundation (Fipe). In this analysis, it was observed that, regionally, prices per liter of regular gasoline vary significantly. The highest recorded values were found in the Northern regions, where the price reached R$ 6.860, and the Northeast, at R$ 6.479. In contrast, the Southeast and Center-West regions presented the lowest prices, R$ 6.260 and R$ 6.468, respectively.

The prices of ethanol followed this pattern, with the highest values found in the North (R$ 5.282) and Northeast (R$ 4.924). The Southeast (R$ 4.314) and Center-West (R$ 4.427) regions showed the lowest prices per liter. Despite a relative monthly stability in fuels, the scenario still reveals an upward trend in prices.

Increase in the Quarter and Annual Comparison

In the accumulation of the first three months of 2025, all fuels increased in price for Brazilian consumers, with ethanol being the highlight with a rise of 6.3%. Next came the diesel, both in its common version, which rose 4.8%, and the S-10, with an increase of 4.7%.

The analysis of the last 12 months reflects substantial and widespread increases in average fuel prices. Ethanol led with a 21.6% increase, followed by regular gasoline with 10.3% and additive with 10.1%. Diesel, both regular and S-10, increased by 8.5% and 8.4%, respectively.

Cost-Benefit Indicator and Ethanol-Gasoline Comparison

In March 2025, the Flex Cost-Benefit Indicator showed that the average price of ethanol corresponded to 72.3% of the amount paid for regular gasoline. This index favors the choice of gasoline in various regions, given the yield of the fuels. From a cost-benefit perspective, fueling with gasoline is shown to be superior. In Ceará, for example, the price difference makes fueling with gasoline more economical, as the indicator reached 81.9%.

On the other hand, in some regions like São Paulo, Mato Grosso, and Mato Grosso do Sul, ethanol managed to show itself as more competitive.
