According to Petrobras, the qualification program, called Autonomy and Income Petrobras, offers training in various essential areas for the oil and gas industry.
The courses target individuals in situations of socioeconomic vulnerability and prioritize groups such as women, people with disabilities, black, brown, transgender individuals, indigenous people, quilombolas, and refugees.
There are more than 470 spots available in professions such as welder, boilermaker, industrial painter, and electrical inspector. But be careful, the spots may fill up quickly!
Course Details
The spots are distributed across the Caruaru and Ipojuca campuses of IFPE. Classes will be in-person and offered at different times to allow flexibility for participants.
Additionally, the courses have varying durations, from 4 to 10 months, focusing on the demands of the oil and gas industry.
The scholarship holders will receive a monthly allowance of R$ 660 during the training period.
For women with children up to 11 years old, the amount increases to R$ 858, helping to ensure they can complete their training without difficulties.

In total, 11 courses are offered in the Initial and Continuing Education modality, all focused on the technological axis of Control and Industrial Processes. These opportunities are distributed across two campuses, with courses such as:
Caruaru Campus
- Welder: 34 spots, night shift, duration of 5 months.
- Scaffolder: 60 spots in two shifts (morning and afternoon), duration of 5 months.
- Pipefitter’s Helper: 94 spots in three groups (morning, afternoon, and night), duration of 4 months.
- Machine Assembler: 34 spots, night shift, duration of 5 months.
- Instrument Technician: 60 spots in two shifts (morning and night), duration of 5 months.
- Instrumentation Helper: 30 spots, night shift, duration of 4 months.
Ipojuca Campus
- Instrumentation Helper: 30 spots, shift to be defined, duration of 4 months.
- Boilermaker: 60 spots, divided between morning and afternoon shifts, duration of 10 months.
- Scaffolder: 30 spots, morning or afternoon, duration of 5 months.
- Industrial Painter: 15 spots, shift to be defined, duration of 5 months.
- Electrical Inspector: 26 spots, morning or afternoon, duration of 10 months.

According to the program coordinator at IFPE, James Radson da Silva Lima, this partnership with Petrobras is a powerful initiative to help individuals in situations of socioeconomic vulnerability gain access to quality training and, consequently, better job opportunities.
He emphasizes that Federal Institutes offer excellent technical training, which will certainly help these individuals change their lives.
According to Petrobras, the Autonomy and Income Program is part of a larger plan involving investments of around R$ 350 million over the next four years.
This investment will benefit 44 municipalities in seven Brazilian states, including Pernambuco, Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, São Paulo, Paraná, and Rio Grande do Sul.
