The University of Brasília Has Opened Applications for the Professional Master’s in Education, Focusing on Applied Research, Management, and Public Policies. The Course Recognized by the MEC Offers 30 Spots with the Start Scheduled for the First Semester of 2026.

The University of Brasília (UnB) has announced the opening of the selection process for the Professional Master’s in Education (PPGE-MP), according to Notice No. 004/2025.

The course is scheduled to start in the first academic semester of 2026 and offers 30 spots aimed at professionals interested in deepening their training in the educational field, with an emphasis on applied research, management, and public policies.

The program is recognized by the Ministry of Education (MEC) and lasts for 24 months.

According to UnB, the goal is to strengthen the training of educators and managers who work in teaching networks and public institutions, with projects aimed at improving educational practices and processes.

Positions, Quotas, and Additional Spots

Of the 30 available spots, 22 are intended for widespread competition and 8 follow the affirmative actions system: 6 for black candidates, 1 for people with disabilities, and 1 for transgender individuals or travestis.

The notice also provides for two additional spots, without reverting to widespread competition, with 1 for indigenous candidates and 1 for quilombola candidates.

UnB informs that the spots will be distributed among the concentration areas and lines of research of the program, and there may be reallocation according to the demand of applicants.

Adhesion to the quotas is optional and must be proven through the documentation required in the notice.

Concentration Areas and Research Lines

The PPGE-MP is organized into two main concentration areas.

The first, Public Policies and Education Management, encompasses topics such as educational policies, democratic management, evaluation, and financing of education.

The second, Professional Development and Education, involves studies on teacher training, curriculum, languages, teaching and learning, history, and school culture.

According to the notice, research projects must have practical application and a direct relationship with real contexts of basic, professional, or higher education.

The works need to generate technical products, reports, interventions, or methodologies that can be used by schools and teaching networks.

Selection Process Stages

The selection process consists of four stages, all with eliminatory and classificatory character:

  1. Evaluation of the preliminary research project, checking the adherence to the program’s lines;
  2. Written test of foreign language comprehension (English or Spanish), applied according to the schedule of the notice;
  3. Written content test, based on the indicated bibliography;
  4. Oral test, in the form of questioning by program faculty.

The evaluations will take place between December 2025 and February 2026.

The final result is expected by the end of February, followed by the period for confirmation of interest and enrollment.

Course Structure and Objectives

According to UnB, the PPGE-MP seeks to bring academic research closer to the daily demands of educational institutions.

The course integrates mandatory and elective subjects, participation in research groups, guidance activities, and the production of articles or technical products.

The final work must present applicable results, such as protocols, technical reports, or intervention proposals.

According to experts in public policies, professional master’s courses have consolidated as instruments for continued training of managers and educators, as they combine scientific basis with the resolution of practical problems in the educational system.

This model, according to UnB, aims to stimulate innovation in pedagogical practices and the development of more efficient management strategies.

The approved student commits to participating in face-to-face and online activities, fulfilling the workload, and delivering the required products.

The program follows the rules of the Graduate Dean’s Office of UnB, which regulates attendance, performance, and defense deadlines.

Training Focused on Educational Practice

Experts in educational management highlight that professional master’s programs, such as UnB’s PPGE-MP, have contributed to bringing academic research closer to public policies and the daily life of schools.

These programs tend to produce diagnostics and tools that help teaching networks to plan and evaluate their actions.

For educators and managers in basic education, the training offers tools to analyze data, plan projects, and evaluate results, skills considered essential in the formulation of policies and the conduct of pedagogical practices.

With the notice open, the program is an alternative for professionals seeking training focused on management and formulation of educational policies.

How to Register

Professionals with a degree recognized by the MEC can apply.

Candidacies from those finishing their undergraduate course are also accepted, provided that the diploma is presented by the start of classes in 2026.

Applications are exclusively online, through the Selecta system, available on the official website of the Graduate Program in Education at UnB.

The application period ends on November 23, 2025, at 11:59 PM. The candidate must attach the requested documentation and submit the preliminary research project according to the guidelines of the notice.

The program advises interested parties to follow communications regarding approval of applications, results, and appeal deadlines, published on the institution’s portal.

If a candidate makes more than one application, only the last registered in the system will be considered.
