According to information released by Fiocruz, registrations remain open until August 31, 2026, although it may close earlier if all offered slots are filled in advance by interested parties.

Fiocruz course discusses health and quality of life in the penitentiary system

The initiative was structured to expand the discussion on health, quality of life, and working conditions among professionals who work daily in the prison environment, a scenario marked by specific challenges linked to operational routine and institutional demands of the sector.

Within the program, participants will have access to content on historical, legal, physical, mental, and institutional aspects related to the daily lives of these workers, as well as debates focused on health protection and strengthening care policies.

Being offered in a digital format, the course allows greater flexibility for attending classes and activities, while the deadline for completing the training is set until September 29, 2026, according to the schedule released by the organization.

Besides the conceptual approach, the training presents strategies for attention to the health of penitentiary staff focusing on individual and collective actions aimed at prevention, psychological support, and improvement of quality of life conditions within the professional environment.

Among the topics covered during the classes are issues related to the promotion of mental health, coordination with the worker’s health network, and initiatives developed to expand institutional support to professionals in the penitentiary system.

Content of the free course includes mental health and public management

The course is organized into three modules.

The first part introduces initial concepts about the relationship between health and work, as well as contextualizes the historical formation of the penitentiary system and the profile of the staff working in this area.

This stage also includes the legal aspects related to the health of professionals in the prison system.

The goal is to provide a foundation for understanding rights, institutional responsibilities, and care strategies in the work environment.

In the second module, the training advances to risk and protection factors.

The classes discuss physical and mental health, quality of life at work, and health promotion experiences in the Brazilian penitentiary system.

This stage also includes individual and collective strategies to strengthen mental health at work.

The topic is considered central because it involves high-pressure routines, institutional demands, and the need for ongoing prevention and care actions.

Innovation and financing tools are part of the training

The third module gathers content focused on management and the application of solutions in the public sector.

The program includes data production and management, forms of financing, possibilities for using public resources, and innovation tools.

This part of the course seeks to bring participants closer to instruments that can support health projects and policies in the penitentiary system.

The approach combines planning, information organization, and alternatives to develop actions within institutions.

At the end of the training, approved participants will be entitled to a free certificate.

To do so, it is necessary to meet the course requirements within the deadline established by the organization.
