GD Forum Midwest Region Generated Over 200 Million in Business
Event Held Last Week in Goiânia, Goiás, Gathered Over 1500 People and Fostered Networking Among Participants.
The production of clean energy through micro and mini power generation is gaining traction in Brazil, as highlighted by the 20th edition of the Regional Distributed Generation Forum (GD Forum), which took place last week, from August 9 to 10, at the Goiânia Convention Center, in Goiás.
Dedicated exclusively to the Midwest region of the country, the Forum was titled GD Forum Midwest and discussed all the opportunities, bottlenecks, and news that are coming to the distributed generation market of the three states, plus the Federal District this year and next year. It is worth mentioning that Goiás is currently ranked seventh in the national ranking of renewable energies, reinforcing the region’s potential for energy generation.
The numbers from the GD Forum also look quite positive. According to the organizers, the event drove the market last week, as more than 200 million in business were recorded, and over 1500 participants attended to gain knowledge about the sector.

Brazilian scientists are simultaneously advancing two research projects on clean hydrogen and driving solutions that could transform the energy matrix, enhance industrial competitiveness, and accelerate large-scale emission reduction targets.

Advancement in renewable energy: A R$ 150 million project launched by Petrobras and Finep aims to create state-of-the-art electrolyzers for green hydrogen, strengthening national research and preparing Brazil to compete in a billion-dollar energy market.

Illiterate or semi-literate grandmothers were trained to repair solar systems, open rural workshops, and light up homes that still depended on kerosene.

The world has bet on green hydrogen as the fuel of the future, but now faces the side effect: producing 1 kilogram requires about 9 liters of ultrapure water, and the largest projects on the planet are precisely in the driest regions of the Earth, where water is already scarce for people.
Tiago Fraga, CEO of Grupo FRG Mídias & Eventos, the organizing company, emphasized how the forum also reinforced the importance of energy generation itself amid the need to contribute to mitigating greenhouse gas emissions.
“What we are seeing in our daily lives in 2023 is a record year that we should not be proud of. During the hottest periods in history, we are seeing problems in the soil, in fauna and flora. Even in our oceans, the planet is crying out for care; I believe that is what renewable energy does,” says Fraga.
“It is contributing to a clean and renewable energy transition and to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, which is what causes all these disturbances,” he points out.
The growth of distributed generation, in turn, was also praised by the specialist, as the price of equipment over the last two years has reduced by up to 70%, according to him, allowing special financing lines to be created specifically to serve the market.
“Today, all banks offer special credit financing lines to finance these photovoltaic plants,” explains Fraga.
Finally, it is worth noting that the GD Forum Midwest was highlighted as an opportunity for those interested in installing solar energy, as well as working with it. A total of over 40 exhibitors were gathered, representing 60% of the best companies participating in the renewable energy sector. A large part of the audience also included integrators who deliver the equipment to the end consumer.
Next Edition of GD Forum
And although the GD Forum Midwest has already ended, it is worth noting that those interested in participating still have a new chance in 2023. The 21st edition of the event will take place in September, on the 20th and 21st, in the Northern region of Brazil. Called GD Forum North, the event will be held in Belém, Pará.
