MEC and CAPES Program Offers Credit of R$ 3 Thousand for Investment in Educational Technology. Selection Considers School Performance on Ideb and Socioeconomic Criteria of Selected Schools.
The Ministry of Education (MEC), in partnership with CAPES, launched the award “More Teachers – Valorization”, which provides a credit of R$ 3 thousand for up to 100 thousand public school teachers to acquire technological equipment.
The benefit, according to the federal government, aims to support the integration of technology into teaching and valorize the work of basic education teachers.
Selection will be based on school performance on the Ideb (Basic Education Development Index) and socioeconomic criteria.

Objective and Functioning of the Award
According to MEC, the credit is intended for the purchase of computers, laptops, or tablets.
This initiative is part of the More Teachers Program and aims to strengthen the use of digital resources in pedagogical planning, the production of teaching materials, and the monitoring of learning.
Experts in educational policies believe that measures like this can expand access to technological tools in regions where infrastructure is still limited.
Who Can Receive the Credit
Eligible candidates include basic education teachers in active duty at the awarded teaching stage.
MEC stated that School Census data and data from Saeb (Basic Education Assessment System), both operated by Inep, will be used to identify eligible educators.
The measure reaches teachers from the early and final years of elementary education and high school, as long as they are linked to schools classified in the program.
Selection Criteria Based on Ideb
The selection of schools follows the performance on Ideb, an indicator that combines school performance and results in learning assessments.
However, according to MEC, the selection is not limited to institutions with the highest scores.
Half of the spots will be allocated to schools among the 25% with the lowest socioeconomic level, aiming to also include units situated in vulnerable contexts.
Experts assert that this division seeks to balance educational merit and regional equity.
Why Some Teachers Will Not Be Awarded
The limit of 100 thousand benefits and the need to meet objective criteria explain why not all teachers will receive the credit.
Eligibility depends on three main factors: the teacher must be in active duty, work at the awarded stage, and be linked to a selected school.
Additionally, distribution is proportional to the number of enrollments in each state and the Federal District, which may lead to regional variations in the number of beneficiaries.
Rules of Use and Deadlines
According to the CAPES ordinance, the amount will be made available on a Banco do Brasil card, with a deadline of up to 180 days for use.
The funds must be used exclusively for the purchase of computers, laptops, or tablets.
Accountability will be mandatory, requiring the presentation of a receipt in the name of the benefiting teacher.
According to MEC, the goal is to ensure transparency and control in the use of the benefit.
Consultation of Selected Schools
The official list of schools classified was published on the More Teachers Program page.
MEC advises each educator to confirm whether the school where they work is among those selected and whether their teaching stage coincides with the awarded stage.
This verification is important to avoid inconsistencies during the registration process and data analysis.
How the Division of 100 Thousand Benefits is Made
According to official information, the distribution of credits follows two criteria.
The first considers the percentage of public school enrollments in each state, adjusting the number of awards to the size of the network.
The second directs 50% of the spots (50 thousand credits) to teachers from schools with better Ideb that are among the 25% with the lowest socioeconomic level.
Experts in educational management point out that this methodology aims to ensure a more balanced and representative coverage among the regions of the country.
Precautions Before Registering
Before registering, the teacher must verify their functional position, the teaching stage in which they work, and any possible recent changes in linkage or workload.
MEC warns that registration discrepancies may prevent data validation.
If inconsistencies occur—such as errors in CPF, name, or unit of exercise—the system may automatically reject the request.
It is also necessary to be attentive to the deadline for accountability, under penalty of losing the benefit.
Proof and Control of the Benefit
After purchasing the equipment, the teacher must present the receipt in the system indicated by the program.
The document must contain a detailed description of the item, price, transaction date, and supplier’s CNPJ.
Information is cross-checked with the School Census and records from the education departments.
In case of discrepancies, the participant may be notified to correct the submission within a determined period.
Differences Between States and Networks
The proportion of teachers benefited may vary depending on the socioeconomic profile and educational performance of each network.
States with a higher number of enrollments and higher scores on the Ideb tend to concentrate more beneficiaries.
Meanwhile, networks with a lower Ideb may have a more restricted distribution.
MEC states that the methodology considers these variations to promote balance among the regions.
Situations Where the Teacher May Not Appear on the List
Even in awarded schools, a teacher may be excluded from the list if they work at a teaching stage different from that recognized by the program.
There are also cases where the limit of spots per state is reached before all educators in the unit are awarded.
MEC recommends that those interested verify the criteria, confirm the data, and monitor official updates from the program.
How to Register in the Official System
Registration must be done on the same system used for the National Teaching License of Brazil (CNDB).
The teacher must access the platform, authenticate the login, and fill out the specific award form.
MEC emphasizes that submitting the form is a mandatory step, but does not guarantee automatic granting of the credit.
The information will be cross-checked with government databases and records from education networks prior to validation. If there is an inconsistency, the teacher will be notified for correction.
