Gerdau continues to solidify its reputation as one of the leaders in the steel sector, especially in Brazil, where it has stood out in reputable rankings. Recently, the company was again recognized among the leading organizations in the Caliber Index, an important indicator of brand trust and admiration. Gerdau’s continuous presence in this ranking reaffirms its commitment to excellence and its ability to engage and empower people. This recognition is a testament to the positive and lasting impact Gerdau has in the market.

As the largest Brazilian steel producer, Gerdau plays a crucial role in the industry, providing not only essential materials for various constructions but also continuously innovating in its approach. Its commitment to sustainability and efficient management has solidified its leadership position in the sector. Additionally, Gerdau stands out for its ability to adapt to changes and implement business practices that inspire confidence among both consumers and stakeholders. Innovation and sustainability continue to be essential pillars for its growing success.

Highlighting in the Steel Sector

Gerdau positions itself as a leader in the steel sector not only for being the largest Brazilian steel producer but also for its 123-year history. The company stands out in the base industries group by integrating an exclusive ranking that evaluates the highest levels of brand strength and those reputation attributes that others cannot achieve. Being among the giants of the industry and also being recognized for attributes such as brand management is a reason for celebration for Gerdau, reaffirming its commitment to the purpose of empowering people who build the future and strengthening its bond with society.

According to Pedro Torres, the Director of Global Communications and Institutional Relations at Gerdau, there is an intense commitment to transparent dialogue and continuity. This commitment seeks to ensure a positive impact in all areas of the company’s activities around the world. The study, conducted by the Caliber consulting firm in collaboration with Meio&Mensagem, links brand management to reputation management, discovering the corporations that stand out the most in this regard.

High-Precision Methodology

The analysis is based on a set of twenty criteria, covering the knowledge and familiarity that the brand has in the market, the ESG pillars that include Environmental, Social, and Governance aspects, in addition to highlighting brand strength and image perception. Among the evaluated topics are advocacy in advocacy, loyalty, recommendation, and employability. This ranking has a quarterly update, covering the period from July to September 2024, and in this edition, it featured an evaluation of 120 brands from 23 different sectors.

History and Commitment to Sustainability

With a rich history of innovation and development, Gerdau not only leads as the largest Brazilian steel producer but is also a heavyweight name in the Americas when it comes to long steels and in the world of special steels. On the national stage, it also dedicates itself to the production of flat steels and carries out the extraction of iron ore for its own industrial use. The company aims to expand beyond the traditional steel market through Gerdau Next, its division dedicated to driving businesses in steel-related segments. The commitment shared by its more than 30,000 employees globally is true to the principles of empowering people in building a promising future.

Gerdau takes pride in being the leading recycler in Latin America, using scrap as one of its main raw materials. Currently, over 70% of the steel produced by Gerdau comes from this recyclable material. Annually, they transform 11 million tons of scrap into various steel products. In addition, the largest producer of charcoal walks hand in hand with its reputation, with vast 250,000 hectares of plantation in the state of Minas Gerais.

Expressive Sustainable Performance

Thanks to a sustainable production model, Gerdau boasts one of the lowest greenhouse gas emissions rates on the planet, at 0.91 t of CO₂e per ton of steel produced, almost 50% below the global average of 1.91 t of CO₂e per ton, according to worldsteel. For 2031, the company has set the goal of reducing this rate to 0.82 t of CO₂e per ton. Thus, Gerdau’s shares continue to be traded on major stock exchanges, such as B3 in São Paulo and NYSE in New York, continuing to establish good practices in the industry and strengthening image perceptions and reputation attributes.
