Unclaimed funds will enter a new phase this Tuesday: banks must send funds to the government, while R$ 10.5 billion in idle funds could help finance Desenrola 2.0 and ensure debt renegotiation within the financial system.
The group inaugurated its first factory outside China in August 2024, located in Camaçari, Metropolitan Region of Salvador.
The plant represents an initial investment of about R$ 100 million and is situated in the former General Electric (GE) complex.
This factory has the capacity to produce up to 150 turbines per year and generate around 100 direct jobs, bringing important economic and technological impacts to Bahia.
The company expects the unit to account for 25% to 30% of the Brazilian wind turbine market, which is still experiencing rapid growth, mainly due to advancements in public policies promoting renewable energy in the country.
Bahia as a Strategic Hub for Wind Energy
According to Jerônimo Rodrigues, Goldwind not only plans to expand production but is also assessing opportunities to invest in new projects and wind farms in the state.
He highlighted that the company is acquainted with the expertise of seven global suppliers for the assembly of equipment, which reinforces Bahia’s capacity for innovation and competitiveness in the sector.
“We came to express our gratitude for the investments made in Bahia, and we are confident that these new investments will further drive the state’s development, as well as generate jobs and strengthen the renewable energy matrix,” said the governor.
Goldwind’s interest in expanding its presence in Brazil coincides with the growing demand for clean energy in the country and the strengthening of decarbonization targets, which drive the expansion of the wind sector in various Brazilian regions, especially in the Northeast.
Bahia is already a prominent player in the national landscape due to its suitability for wind energy, thanks to constant winds and developing infrastructure.
The arrival of Goldwind in the state brought a technological leap, as the company produces turbines with powers ranging from 5.3 MW to 7.5 MW, surpassing national wind generators, which typically reach just over 6 MW.
This technological advancement could make Bahia a strategic hub for the production and export of renewable energy equipment, according to sector experts.
Additionally, the establishment of the factory in Camaçari has contributed to the training of a specialized workforce in the region, enhancing local industrial development.
International Agenda and Strategic Partnerships
On the same day of the visit to Goldwind, Governor Jerônimo Rodrigues participated in an official agenda in China, where he met with President Xi Jinping and President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
This visit is part of the Bahia government’s efforts to attract new investments and international partnerships.
In addition to discussions with Chinese representatives of the energy sector, Jerônimo Rodrigues has scheduled meetings with automotive companies, such as BYD, and with technology corporations, including TikTok and Hotgen Biotech factory.
These meetings reinforce Bahia’s interest in diversifying its economy and strengthening ties with foreign investors.
Growth of the Renewable Energy Sector in Bahia
The renewable energy sector has been one of the main drivers of economic growth in Bahia in recent years, fueled by the expansion of wind and solar parks, the installation of new industries, and technological development.
According to market experts, the presence of a multinational like Goldwind in the state not only elevates regional competitiveness but also stimulates the attraction of other companies in the sector, creating a favorable ecosystem for innovation, sustainability, and quality job creation.
The expansion of Goldwind in Brazil occurs at a time when the country is advancing its commitment to a clean energy matrix, seeking to reduce dependence on fossil sources and increase the share of renewables, especially wind and solar, which are becoming increasingly competitive.
According to data from the Brazilian Wind Energy Association (ABEEólica), energy generated by wind farms already accounts for more than 15% of the country’s installed capacity, with prospects for rapid growth in the next decade.
The entry of global players like Goldwind reinforces this scenario, bringing investments, technology, and international experience.
Bahia Could Become a Global Reference in Renewable Energy
For Bahia, Goldwind’s investment represents not only immediate economic growth but also an important step in consolidating the state as a national leader and global reference in renewable energy.
With expectations of tripling production and new investments in infrastructure, Bahia could establish itself as a strategic hub that integrates environmental sustainability, technological development, and job generation, aligning with global trends in the green economy.
What do you think about this expansion move of the Chinese industry in Bahia?
Do you believe that the presence of companies like Goldwind can transform the energy and economic future of the state?
