My House, My Life Reserves 3% of the Housing Units to Ensure Dignity and Social Inclusion
The My House, My Life program now allocates part of the construction units to homeless people, focusing on dignified housing and social reintegration. The measure covers 3% of the contracted properties, prioritizing municipalities that concentrate the most vulnerable individuals.
Construction of Housing Focused on Social Justice
The new measure establishes that at least 3% of the federal housing program units will be reserved for homeless individuals, focusing on cities with more than a thousand individuals in this condition. The construction will be done in partnership with municipalities and states, also involving support from institutions that serve vulnerable groups. According to Agência Gov, this policy aims to correct a history of exclusion in access to housing.
Criteria for Selection of Benefited Families
People registered in CadÚnico and followed by the municipalities’ social assistance services will be contemplated. Priority will be given to families with children, pregnant women, the elderly, people with disabilities, indigenous people, and the trans population. In addition to the construction of housing, the proposal includes continuous social monitoring to ensure integration and adjustment of residents to their new homes.

The collaboration between the Ministries of Cities, Human Rights, and Social Development strengthens the proposal for a more inclusive housing policy.
Construction of Housing as a Starting Point for Citizenship
According to data from 2023, more than 221,000 homeless individuals are registered in CadÚnico. The cities of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Belo Horizonte account for over 40% of this total. With the new program guideline, the government aims to ensure not just shelter but a new beginning, with the conditions for these individuals to rebuild their lives with safety and dignity.
