The plan is to requalify and build 3,5 kilometers of roads, covering from the coast to the hinterland of Pernambuco.

The government's promise is that, over the next few years, the roads will be passable again, offering greater safety and fluidity for traffic.

The highlight is the implementation of the southern section of the Metropolitan Arch, also known as Lot 2, located in Greater Recife.

In addition, the program provides for the requalification of 120 kilometers of BR-232, an important road that connects the capital, Recife, to São Caetano, in Agreste.

The government has also already signaled future duplications of BR-232, which will extend from São Caetano to Arcoverde, reaching Serra Talhada, in the backlands of the state..

Larger investments than previous projects

Compared to previous programs, the PE on the Road presents a significantly higher investment.

According to the governor, the resources allocated exceed the R$4 billion destined for “Caminhos de Pernambuco” and “Caminhos da Integração”, launched in the four previous state administrations of the PSB.

This new project not only exceeds the values, but is also seen as a necessary and urgent restructuring, given the precariousness of the roads.

According to experts, the Requalification of BR-232 is essential for the economic development of the state, since this highway is one of the main connections between the capital and the interior of Pernambuco.

Lot 2 of the Metropolitan Arch: less controversial, but crucial

The Metropolitan Arch is one of the most important and controversial points of this project.
