The Goal of Job Openings Is to Bring Doctors to Work in Remote Areas and Indigenous Reserves
The Ministry of Health is offering more than 21,500 job openings in the Physicians for Brazil Program. Professionals will be able to work in 5,233 Brazilian municipalities, or nearly 94% of the country. The program will gradually replace the More Physicians Project for Brazil in Primary Health Care (APS). Doctors selected for the job program will have the opportunity for training in family and community medicine, their performance will be assessed, they may be hired under the CLT regime, and they will have career progression (to reduce turnover) and will be rewarded for working in remote areas and Indigenous health.
Health managers in eligible cities must join the Physicians for Brazil program, whose announcement was published on Monday (6). The announcement for the selection process for doctors to apply for job openings will also be published in December.

“The recommendation is that managers do not miss the opportunity to bring health and the presence of qualified doctors to serve citizens with dignity,” said the Secretary of Primary Health Care, Raphael Câmara. He presides over the Deliberative Council of the Primary Health Care Development Agency (Adaps), which is responsible for executing the new program.
The locations to be served by doctors were chosen considering the high vulnerability and the condition of many being in remote rural areas. The Physicians for Brazil program began in 2019 with the goal of creating job openings to allocate federal doctors to places with supply difficulties and high vulnerability. The budget planned for execution in the first year of work is R$ 1.2 billion.
Among the municipalities with job openings for the Physicians for Brazil program are Ibertioga in the Southeast; Alto das Garças in the Center-West; Palmeirais in the Northeast; Passa Sete in the South; and Brejinho de Nazaré in the North of the country.
The complete list of cities with job openings can be accessed on the government website.
About the Job Program “Physicians for Brazil”
The Physicians for Brazil health program was launched by President Jair Bolsonaro and the Minister of Health at the time, Luiz Henrique Mandetta, on August 1, 2019, with the goal of replacing the More Physicians program created in 2013 during Dilma Rousseff’s administration.
The expectation is that, initially, 5,000 job openings will be offered, with operations starting in March 2022. The employment contracts related to More Physicians will remain in effect until the terms established are complete, according to the Ministry of Health.
