GWM plans to bring the cloned electric Beetle from China to Brazil soon. The electric vehicle will deliver surprising autonomy 400 km.

A assembler GWM is preparing to reach the national vehicle market with its urban electric car brand, called Ora. The company already has a partnership with BMW in China and the sub-brand should start activities in the country with sustainable electric options, and the best, with an electric GWM Beetle, a vehicle well known and loved by the public in the country.

GWM Electric Beetle can reach a top speed of 160 km/h

Ora's arrival in Brazil is part of GWM's expansion plans in the country. The company seeks to take advantage of the growing interest of the electric car market in Brazil and, to make this possible, it will invest in sustainable options.

However, in Brazilian territory, the vehicles will not have the same names as their Chinese versions. In the Asian country, some models are the Good Cat, Ballet Cat, and Punk Cat. Around here they should be baptized by acronyms.

Ora will not make a cloned Beetle, literally, in fact, the brand's models look like the Volkswagen popular classic. The first model that will arrive in Brazil will be the Good Cat, which will receive another name here.

The vehicle is a hatchback with 4,13 meters in length and 2,65 meters between axles. The vehicle is powered by an electric motor of 145 or 173 horsepower, with a maximum speed of 160 km/h.

A battery it can be charged up to 80% in just 45 minutes and the car has a range of up to 400 km. With the launch, Ora hopes to give Brazilians a sustainable and, of course, nostalgic electric option.

Difference between models inspired by the Beetle

It is worth remembering that it is not just the Good cat which is known as the Beetle. The models Ballet Cat and Punk Cat were openly inspired by the Volkswagen model, including looking more like the original version of the model than the New Beetle and the last Beetle released.

The difference between the two versions of the electric Beetle is that Ballet is more focused on a female audience, which, at the time of launch, resulted in sexist stereotypes and criticism.

In 2022, the M.Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), from China, revealed that the Great Wall Motors vehicle has 544 horsepower, generated by two engines of 245 and 299 horsepower. This version is the top of the line with all-wheel drive.

O GWM Beetle, in addition to the double electric motors, it had a version with a single motor, however the power of the propellant was not revealed. However, there is a significant difference in weight, as the most powerful option weighs around 2.350 kg and the single-engine 2.245 kg, that is, 105 kg less.

Engineer transforms electric vehicle into electric Beetle

In addition to GWM, which plans to bring the Beetle Clonado to Brazil, the telecommunications engineer who works in Espírito Santo, Aline Santos, who owns a VW Beetle 72, modified the four-cylinder engine, powered by gasoline by the electric motor, runs with the vehicle modified since 2018 by the state, and draws a lot of attention, since the vehicle does not make any sound, which is characteristic of the gasoline-powered Beetle.

A engineer states that he performed the modification on his VW Beetle because he wanted to better understand the reasons behind electric cars having such a high cost in the country, and thus he adapted his car with the help of friends who were also interested in and believed in the VW Beetle electric project.
