With Shiny Silver Looks, Nostalgic Touches, and Milwaukee-Eight Engine, the New Fat Boy Gray Ghost Celebrates 35 Years of the Iconic American Cruiser
Harley-Davidson has launched a new limited edition of the Fat Boy, named Gray Ghost. This release marks the 35th anniversary of the model and celebrates the legacy of one of the most iconic motorcycles from the American manufacturer.
With production limited to 1,990 units, the Gray Ghost arrives as part of the Icons Motorcycle Collection and already draws attention for its chrome design and refined finish.
Created by Bill and Karen Davidson, children of Willie G — designer of the first generation of the Fat Boy — the new cruiser pays homage to the original version from 1990.

According to Karen Davidson, the 2025 motorcycle maintains the DNA of the classic Fat Boy, but with improvements. “It’s an incredible tribute to the original motorcycle and the legacy of 25 years of the Fat Boy“, she stated.
Gray Style and Shiny Finish
The name Gray Ghost is no coincidence. The entire body of the motorcycle features a shiny silver finish inspired by the paintwork of the 1990s.
The chrome surface stands out, particularly on the engine casings, exhausts, and headlight nacelle. The wheels also follow the silver pattern, with classic brand-style slots.
Other elements reinforce the motorcycle’s shiny appearance, such as the chrome side covers and the silver electrostatic paint on the frame.
Yellow details on the rocker covers, the engine, and the tank console refer to the style of the original Fat Boy. A round air filter is also part of the retro look.
PVD Coating Technology
One of the distinguishing features of the new Fat Boy is the use of the Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) process. This technique allows for vaporized material to be applied under vacuum onto the parts of the motorcycle.
In this case, aluminum receives a positive charge and is attracted to parts with a negative charge. The result is a uniform coating applied on the fenders and the tank.
This finish is topped with a transparent layer that offers greater durability. Although it resembles chrome, PVD is more resistant to corrosion and meets the standards required by Harley-Davidson. According to the manufacturer, this method ensures beauty and protection for long periods of use.
Nostalgic and Exclusive Details
The Fat Boy Gray Ghost retains a classic charm with personalized touches. There’s a black leather strap over the tank and a seat skirt with laces and tassels.
The original wing graphic has been recreated in three-dimensional medallions on the gas tank. On the rear fender, there’s the emblem of the Icons collection. The serial number of each unit is engraved on a commemorative plaque on the tank console.
These details highlight the exclusivity of the motorcycle. With a limited production of 1,990 units, Harley recalls the debut year of the Fat Boy in the market. The idea is to keep the memory of the model that has become a symbol of the brand over the years alive.
Power and Robust Structure
The new Fat Boy brings the same Milwaukee-Eight 117 Custom engine of 1,917 cc used in the standard 2025 version. The power has slightly decreased to 100 horsepower, while the torque remains at 165 Nm. The transmission has six gears, with a wide rear tire (section 240) ensuring grip on the road.
The motorcycle’s structure is made with a double cradle steel chassis. At the front, there’s a robust 49 mm telescopic fork.
At the rear, a hidden monoshock ensures stability and comfort. This shock absorber is the only element of the suspension with adjustable settings — and even then, only for preload.
The 18-inch wheels with single disc brakes complete the assembly. Weighing 317 kg, some riders may consider the absence of dual front brakes a downside. However, the motorcycle offers other features to compensate.
Riding Modes and Onboard Technology
Harley-Davidson included three riding modes in the Gray Ghost: Road, Rain, and Sport. The model also features safety technologies, such as ABS brakes, traction control, torque control, and slip control.
Additionally, there are tire pressure sensors that help maintain control while riding.
In terms of comfort, the model comes with heated grip connectors, a USB-C port, and an analog instrument panel with a multifunctional LCD. All the motorcycle’s lighting is LED, reinforcing the modern look with classic touches.
With this edition, Harley-Davidson reinforces the legacy of one of its most iconic models.
