Honda Has Just Announced New Electric Motorcycles And There Is A Good Chance A New CB 750 Electric Hornet Will Hit The Market.
Honda, the Japanese manufacturer, is developing an electric motorcycle that may remind you of its CB 500 or even the current CB 750 Hornet. According to executive Shinji Aoyama, responsible for the company’s electrification, in an interview with the Japanese website Young Machine, he provided details about the future model that does not require fuel and will be in the “fun” category.
Electric Hornet Goes Beyond A Daily Urban Vehicle
When the vehicle manufacturer announced last September that it would launch 10 electric motorcycles by 2025, three of the planned motorcycles were in this category, however, with few details.
According to Honda’s executive vice president, Shinji Aoyama, in a segment of the published interview, the company is working on what is called a fun model, that is, a leisure motorcycle, which would be on sale in 2024 or 2025 that, although electric, would be comparable to a current 500-750 cc twin-cylinder motorcycle.

The executive emphasizes that the Electric Hornet will not be a super sports motorcycle, but rather a differentiated product that goes beyond what is considered a daily urban vehicle.
In a presentation released in 2022, the company revealed the silhouette of 3 models that may be larger than the current low-performance scooters, such as the EM1 and. One of them is the larger scooter, another a cruiser, and there is also a naked-style model, which is believed to be an Electric Hornet.
Another hint left by Honda about the future electric motorcycle was the participation in the Rose Parade event, earlier this year in the United States. On the company’s float, which sponsored the event, one of the highlights was the concept of an electric motorcycle, specifically in the naked style reminiscent of the new CB 750 Hornet.
Honda Announces Arrival Of 10 Electric Motorcycles By 2025
Honda announced last September, in Japan, its plans for the electric motorcycle market. Ten energy-powered models will be launched worldwide by 2025, including small and large two-wheeled vehicles.
In its statement, the manufacturer claims there is a possibility that more electric motorcycles will arrive during this period. Starting in 2026, the brand plans to sell around 1 million electric units per year, aiming to increase to 3.5 million per year by 2030. Thus, by 2030, they will represent 15% of the company’s global sales, compared to only 5% four years earlier.
This initiative is part of Honda’s focus on achieving carbon neutrality in all motorcycle models during the 2040s. According to Honda, as a primary focus of environmental strategies for the motorcycle business, the company will drive the electrification of its models while continuing to evolve internal combustion engines.
Manufacturer Brings New Low-Cost Model
In January, Honda developed a new electric motorcycle model that features a special design, providing practicality and comfort in a single product.
The electric motorcycle, called Honda MS01, was developed through a partnership between the manufacturer and MUJI, a retail chain from Japan. Despite a growing demand worldwide, there is a catch: the product in question is currently exclusive to China.
The model’s design is quite similar to a Mobylette and was developed with a focus on short-distance and fast commuting. MUJI is a company focused on minimalism and ecology that developed the sophisticated and modern design of Honda’s electric motorcycle while the company gained ground in other segments, such as structure and mechanics.
