Honda’s compact sedan will have an unprecedented front end in Brazil, will retain the 126 hp 1.5 naturally aspirated engine, and will continue to bet on a comprehensive safety package with Honda Sensing as standard. The model produced in Itirapina will also receive visual adjustments, new equipment, and a length close to 4.57 meters.

The Honda City 2027 is expected to arrive on the Brazilian market in the second half of 2026, bringing a second restyling, a visual developed specifically for the country, and the retention of the well-known 126 hp 1.5 naturally aspirated engine, a setup that already equips the current line of the compact sedan.

Produced in Itirapina, in the interior of São Paulo, the model is already circulating in camouflaged tests and anticipates deeper changes to the front end, a move uncommon in Honda’s recent strategy, traditionally more conservative in mid-life updates.

According to Autos Segredos, Brazilian engineering is working to differentiate the national City from the configuration sold in Asian markets, in an attempt to create its own identity for the sedan within the Japanese manufacturer’s range.

Within this visual repositioning, the brand is preparing an unprecedented bumper, a new front grille, and a different integration between headlights and bodywork, changes that should bring the model closer to a more sophisticated design aligned with the Brazilian market.

Honda City 2027 will have an exclusive front end in Brazil

Honda City 2027 will have an exclusive look in Brazil, 1.5 engine with 126 hp, CVT transmission, and Honda Sensing as standard.
Honda City 2027 will have an exclusive look in Brazil, 1.5 engine with 126 hp, CVT transmission, and Honda Sensing as standard.

Images released by the @placaverde profile reveal that the City 2027 will have more pronounced creases in the front bumper, while the camouflage applied to the bodywork already allows important changes to the front assembly and the lower trim to be noticed.

Although the rear should also receive minor adjustments, Honda is concentrating its update efforts on the front, preserving the platform currently used and maintaining the suspension and the sedan’s base without known structural alterations.

Due to the new front design, the total length should reach approximately 4.57 m, while width, height, and wheelbase should remain close to current measurements, at 1.74 m, 1.47 m, and 2.60 m, respectively.

1.5 naturally aspirated engine and CVT transmission remain in the sedan

Mechanically, the City 2027 will continue to use the 1.5 naturally aspirated flex engine with direct fuel injection, a configuration that delivers 126 hp at 6,200 rpm with both ethanol and gasoline, repeating the known figures of the sedan.

In addition to the maintained power, the assembly continues to offer 15.8 kgfm of torque with ethanol and 15.5 kgfm with gasoline, always at 4,600 rpm, preserving the characteristic behavior of the current generation of the model.

Along with the engine, the CVT automatic transmission will remain, calibrated to simulate seven gears, a choice that reinforces Honda’s strategy of prioritizing visual and equipment changes without promoting profound mechanical alterations.

So far, the Japanese manufacturer has not yet confirmed the arrival of a possible hybrid version for the Brazilian City within this update.

Equipment and interior expected to receive updates

According to information gathered by QUATRO RODAS, Honda is also preparing adjustments to the sedan’s equipment list, especially for the LX version, which may finally offer keyless entry as standard among the available items.

Today, the entry-level configuration is the only one equipped with a mechanical parking brake, 15-inch alloy wheels, and manual air conditioning, while the other variants use 16-inch wheels and a more complete finish.

Internally, changes should be discreet and focused on new seat upholstery, with no expectation of significant alterations to the dashboard design, cabin architecture, or occupant space.

Honda Sensing and six airbags remain a highlight

Even with the visual changes planned for the 2027 lineup, the Honda Sensing package will continue to be one of the sedan’s main highlights, remaining available from the entry-level versions of the national range.

Among the features offered by the suite are adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, and autonomous emergency braking, technologies that have gained more relevance within the segment in recent years.

In addition to electronic assists, the City will continue to be equipped with six airbags, stability control, tire pressure monitoring, and hill start assist, maintaining the reinforced safety package previously introduced in the 2025 lineup.

With this, Honda preserves an already consolidated strategy for the model, using safety equipment as a competitive differential against traditional compact sedans and entry-level SUVs.

City Hatch has not yet appeared in tests

Although the sedan has already been spotted in both Brazil and Asian markets, the City Hatch has not yet appeared in camouflaged tests, a situation that may indicate a difference in the update schedule between the two body styles.

Although it shares a platform, engine, and much of the cabin with the sedan, the hatch has a different proposition due to its smaller trunk and Magic Seat system, characteristics that may justify its own renewal schedule.

So far, Honda has not officially released details about prices, versions, or the exact launch date of the 2027 City, and the available information continues to be based on spy shots, journalistic investigations, and the technical specifications already used by the current lineup.
