Authorities Speak on Huawei’s Shift
According to the announcement by the company’s rotating president, Eric Xu, agreements were made with three automakers in China to provide the operating system for electric cars with artificial intelligence, known as “Huawei Inside,” at the Shanghai Auto Show in early April.
Huawei also plans to purchase a stake in Chongqing Sokon Holdings as part of the agreement. The head of Huawei’s consumer business group, Richard Yu, who has helped the Chinese brand become one of the leaders in smartphone manufacturing worldwide and recently shifted its focus to electric cars, is leading the negotiations with Sokon.
Huawei intends to launch its first electric car with artificial intelligence under its own brand by the end of this year.
