This year, Hyundai showcased several innovations at the CES technology fair in Las Vegas, USA. What caught the most attention was the S-A2, a “flying car.”
Supernal, the brand’s aerospace division, plans to manufacture it by 2028. With eight folding rotors, the S-A2 achieves a cruising speed of 193 km/h and can fly at an altitude of 457 meters.
According to Hyundai, the production version of the eVTOL will focus on shorter distances, with trips ranging from 40 to 64 kilometers. Thus, the S-A2 should be more suitable for navigating city distances. To avoid disturbing urban residents, the flying car is expected to emit 65 decibels during takeoff and 45 decibels while in flight.

BYD prepares to bring intelligent driving technology to Brazil in 2027 and promises to equip cars sold in the country with features that assist drivers in driving, parking, and handling traffic more safely.
Details of Hyundai’s Flying Car
The eVTOL cabin can accommodate up to four people, not including the pilot. Furthermore, the seats are made with aviation-grade materials for energy absorption as a safety measure.
According to information from Hyundai, although there is a common term, the S-A2 cannot be viewed as a popular or traditional flying car – this is because it was primarily designed for air transport. The company, by the way, set up a location to showcase passenger boarding and alighting at the Las Vegas Convention Center parking lot, where CES takes place.
Company Still Works on Final Touches
At the moment, Supernal is still developing some final touches on the S-A2 to ensure everything meets certification. The brand also states that the car is being envisioned according to all flight specifications around the globe and aims to incorporate certain innovations, such as removable battery packs and modular interiors.
