Last Friday (11), the companies IBM, Flex, and FIT (Flex Institute of Technology) announced a collaboration agreement for the launch of the Telecommunications Solutions Center for 5G in Brazil.
Located in Sorocaba and partnered with the IBM Client Center and Flex in São Paulo, the center will focus on research and development projects to explore the benefits of 5G networks for telecommunications and other industries.

The IBM center will serve as a research and testing facility to help telecommunications operators and companies assess ways to boost open hybrid cloud technologies on mobile 5G networks in Latin America. The center will feature open architectures, such as Open Radio Access Network (Open RAN), in a simulated environment for companies to test their innovations.
As described in the agreement, IBM will provide technology services to help companies explore building solutions for 5G networks, such as the Red Hat OpenStack Platform and Red Hat OpenShift.

Using the test center, companies will be able to co-develop prototypes and references based on Open RAN, in order to expand the benefits of open 5G networks in various sectors, including agribusiness, transportation, healthcare, public services, retail, and banking.
