Last Friday (11) the companies IBM, Flex and FIT (Flex Institute of Technology) announced a collaboration agreement for the launch of the Telecommunications Solutions Center for 5G in Brazil.
Located in Sorocaba and partnered with IBM Client Center and Flex in São Paulo, the center will focus on research and development projects to explore the benefits of 5G networks for telecommunications and other industries.

The IBM center will serve as a research and testing center to help telecom operators and enterprises evaluate ways to leverage open hybrid cloud technologies on 5G mobile networks in Latin America. The center will have open architectures, such as the Open Radio Access Network (Open RAN), in a simulated environment for companies to test their innovations.
As described in the agreement, the company IBM will make technology services available to companies to help them explore building solutions for 5G networks, such as Red Hat OpenStack Platform and Red Hat Openshift.
The company Flex, being the specialist in outsourced design and manufacturing services for 5G technology infrastructure and wireless products, will have electronic equipment to help in the delivery and measurement of signals, while FIT will provide expertise in IT (Information Technology) and telecommunications.
Test center will provide space for companies to develop prototypes for expansion in various sectors beyond 5G
Using the test center, companies will be able to co-develop prototypes and benchmarks based on Open RAN, in order to expand the benefit of open 5G networks in various sectors, such as agribusiness, transportation, healthcare, utilities, retail and banking .
