iFood created the Minha CNH program to assist bicycle couriers in obtaining motorcycle licenses with financial support.
Obtaining the first driver’s license can be a financial challenge for many workers who rely on delivery apps. To alleviate this difficulty, iFood announced the launch of the Minha CNH program, an initiative aimed at couriers who currently use bicycles and wish to obtain a motorcycle license. The action will start in Greater São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, where a thousand spots will be available.
The proposal aims to facilitate access to the required documentation for those intending to work with motorized vehicles on the platform. According to the company, the measure could expand work opportunities for professionals who currently work exclusively with bicycles.
Minha CNH is born to reduce a financial barrier
For many couriers, the amount needed to obtain the first license ends up delaying or even making it impossible to switch to a delivery mode that requires a motorcycle.

Better than in Brazil? Havan’s owner wants to take the chain to Paraguay and Uruguay: “I confess I had never thought about it.”
According to Tudo Celular, the average cost of this process exceeds R$ 1,400 in various Brazilian regions. It was precisely in this scenario that the program emerged.
The company stated that it will cover approximately 90% of the expenses related to obtaining a category A driver’s license, intended for motorcyclists.
What will be paid by iFood?
The support offered covers different stages normally required for the training of new drivers.
Among the costs covered by the program are:
- Administrative fees;
- Enrollment in partner driving schools;
- Practical lessons;
- Use of the motorcycle during the practical exam.
Some legally mandatory expenses will remain the responsibility of the participants. This includes medical exams, psychotechnical evaluations, and toxicological tests when required by law.
As a result, the necessary outlay to enter the licensing process will be significantly reduced for the selected couriers.
How can the program impact the couriers’ routine?
The initiative was created to serve professionals who already make deliveries through the platform using bicycles.
According to iFood, the use of motorcycles can expand the geographical reach of deliveries and increase the number of orders accessible to workers.
The company believes that the change can contribute to an operational routine different from that experienced by those who rely exclusively on bicycles to make deliveries.

Furthermore, expanding the possibilities of action was identified as one of the main objectives of the project.
Who can participate in the selection?
In this initial stage, not all registered couriers will be eligible to compete for a spot. The program was directed at professionals who have maintained continuous activity on the platform for at least six consecutive months.
There is also a defined geographical cut for the first phase. In the capital of São Paulo, the selection reaches couriers from the following areas:
- Center;
- South Zone;
- West Zone.
In Rio de Janeiro, workers located in the following areas can participate:
- In the South Zone;
- In Barra da Tijuca.
Invitations have started to be sent directly through the app used by the couriers.
iFood offers support even after licensing
The proposal does not end when the participant completes the process to obtain the CNH. As part of the initiative, iFood maintains a partnership with Mottu, a company specialized in renting and selling motorcycles.
The selected couriers will receive two weeks of free vehicle use. The measure was created to allow professionals to start their activities without having to immediately take on this additional cost.

Registration process will be carried out in stages
Interested professionals will need to express interest after receiving the invitation sent by the platform. For this, it will be necessary to fill out a specific form provided by the program.
Definitive participation will depend on meeting the criteria established in the initiative’s regulations. Only candidates who meet the requirements will be able to compete for one of the thousand spots available in this phase.
Other initiatives aimed at couriers
During the announcement of Minha CNH, iFood also highlighted actions already directed at professionals working through the app.
Among them are the evolution of the Security Center, the Safe Driving Indicator based on telemetry, and the Decola platform.
According to the company, this platform offers free courses related to different areas of professional development.
The content covers topics such as:
- Financial education;
- Entrepreneurship;
- Technology;
- Professional training.
Program expands access to motorcycle licenses
By covering a large part of the costs involved in obtaining a category A driver’s license, iFood is betting on a strategy aimed at reducing a difficulty faced by many couriers who wish to switch to motorcycles.
The first phase of Minha CNH will be concentrated in specific regions of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro and will provide a thousand opportunities for professionals already working on the platform using bicycles.
With financial support during the licensing process and initial incentive for the use of motorcycles, the initiative aims to facilitate couriers’ access to a new mode of operation within the app.
