A Circular Island That Spins on Its Own Was Discovered in Argentina, and Scientists Are Still Seeking to Understand the Secrets Behind the Phenomenon
Hidden in the heart of the Paraná Delta in Argentina, there is a mysterious island that has perplexed experts and curious individuals for years. Known as “The Eye“, this unique piece of floating scenery is a natural feature that seems to defy a simple explanation.
The island, which moves slowly over a lake of crystal-clear waters, impresses with its almost perfectly circular shape. Its intriguing appearance attracts theories of all kinds, from rare natural formations to bold speculations about it being camouflage for a supposed hidden base. Although fascinating, none of these ideas have been proven so far.
The Journey of Filmmaker Sergio Neuspiller

In search of answers to the mystery, renowned Argentine filmmaker Sergio Neuspiller embarked on an expedition to the site. Flying over “The Eye”, he was enchanted by the geometric perfection of the island, which appeared even more surreal from above.

The hidden diamond crater in Siberia is almost 100 km in diameter, formed when an asteroid passed through the atmosphere at 20 km/s 36 million years ago, and is still being shaped by erosion in the Russian ice as one of the largest cosmic scars ever recorded by NASA on Earth.
Upon landing, Neuspiller walked through the dense vegetation and investigated the island’s features up close. He shared his observations with the Uruguayan newspaper El Observador, stating:
“We found the perfect circle, seen from the air. The water looked black, but in reality, it was completely clear, something rare to find in the Delta.“
According to the filmmaker, the dark shadow of the water is caused by the earthy bottom of the lake, while the surprisingly cold temperature of the environment contrasts with the warmer lakes in the region.
The Island That Dances with the Currents
Experts suggest that the circular movement of the island is caused by water currents that sculpt and slowly move its mass over time. This appearance, despite being unusual, is a plausible explanation for the island’s almost perfect shape.
In 2016, interest in the island grew even more when a team of researchers and filmmakers launched a campaign on Kickstarter. The goal was to raise funds to explore and document the mysteries of “The Eye” in greater depth.
Although the site has already been the target of expeditions and studies, its charm remains intact. Mystery, science, and human fascination continue to interweave around this small wonder of nature.
Despite all the interest, “The Eye” still holds secrets. And perhaps it is precisely this blend of science and mystery that keeps its allure intact, challenging both scientists and dreamers.
