Innovative Product Eliminates The Need For External Curing, Reduces Cracks, And Promises Savings Of Billions Of Liters Of Water Per Year.
Asian Paints has launched CureAssure in the United Arab Emirates, the world’s first internal curing liquid additive for concrete. The innovation eliminates the traditional external curing with water or coatings, proposing a more efficient and sustainable solution.
Most importantly, CureAssure can generate savings of up to eight billion liters of water per year in the country. The formula contains polymers developed to retain moisture inside the concrete, facilitating hydration in a controlled manner.
Compatible With All Types Of Concrete
According to the company, the additive works with any type of Portland cement. It is also suitable for various applications, such as pumped concrete, precast concrete, high durability, high fluidity, and concrete transported over long distances.

In addition, it can be combined with pozzolanic materials such as GGBS, PFA, microsilica, and other additives. However, the company recommends experimental testing to ensure the desired performance when combined with different materials.
Reduction Of Cracks And Increased Durability
Another highlighted benefit is the reduction of cracks. This occurs because the additive promotes uniform hydration, which decreases internal stresses and, therefore, the emergence of shrinkage cracks.
For Asian Paints CEO Joseph Eapen, the new product represents more than just a simple innovation. “We are redefining a fundamental stage in construction. This sustainable solution is designed for the real world,” he stated.
Usage Instructions Require Attention
The dosage of the product involves adding it to the measuring water or simultaneous application with the water in the concrete mixer. The company prohibits the direct use of CureAssure in the dry mix.
Therefore, mixing must occur with at least 60 seconds of wet time. Only after two-thirds of this time can the remaining water be added, to avoid excess moisture in the concrete.
For Amit DasGupta, Senior Technology Manager at AP Global, the development of CureAssure required a shift in perspective. “We rethought curing from the inside out. Instead of addressing the symptoms on the surface, we focused on the root cause,” he explained.
The result, according to him, is a more resilient concrete, adaptable to different environments and not dependent on external processes to achieve optimal performance.
