Selection Process for Elementary School Teachers: New Hiring Notice Offers 367 Positions in Rio de Janeiro

The Municipal Education Department has just launched a new notice for the hiring of teachers on a temporary basis. A total of 367 positions will be offered for work at the elementary level, with opportunities in different subjects and workloads. This selection process is an excellent chance for educators looking to enter or reintegrate into the job market, with attractive salaries and benefits. Moreover, the notice covers a diversity of positions, allowing teachers with different qualifications to participate. Applications are already open, and interested parties have until September 30, 2024, to secure their participation.

In addition to the vast number of available positions, the selection process is a response to the growing educational demand in the municipality of Rio de Janeiro. With a simplified structure, the process will allow for the quick and effective hiring of teachers to meet the staffing needs in municipal schools. Who Can Participate in the Selection Process for Teacher?

The requirements for participation in the process are clear and aim to ensure that professionals have the necessary education and experience for the good performance of their duties. To apply, it is necessary to have a degree in the corresponding area of the desired position. Additionally, the candidate must be up to date with electoral obligations and, in the case of males, with military service. Retired teachers can also participate, provided that their retirement is not due to disability.

Another important point is that candidates must be physically and mentally fit for the position. Those who already have a link with the public education network, whether municipal or state, will have priority in hiring, which is an added incentive for these professionals. However, teachers with other public links or who cannot reconcile their workload will be disqualified.

How Does the Selection Process Work?

The selection process will be conducted in a single phase, of an eliminatory and classificatory nature. Candidates will be evaluated based on their qualifications and professional experiences, with those obtaining the highest scores receiving priority in filling the positions. Qualifications such as postgraduate degrees, master’s degrees, and doctorates are considered and can add important points to the final classification.

In addition to qualifications, experience will also carry significant weight. Teachers with more than 10 years of experience in public or private education will earn the maximum score. The final result of the process will be published in the Official Gazette of the Municipality of Rio de Janeiro, and the selected candidates will be called to choose the school unit where they will work.

How to Register?

Applications are free and take place in two stages. The first consists of filling out an online form, available on the website of the Municipal Education Department (https://www.rio.rj.gov.br/web/portaldeconcursos/principal). The second stage involves the submission of supporting documentation, such as diplomas and professional experience records, through the Carioca Digital portal.
