The Federal Institute of Rio de Janeiro (IFRJ) has launched the Edital No. 67/2025, offering 586 free slots for the first semester of 2026 in technical courses at the concurrent and subsequent levels, all in-person.
This initiative reinforces the Institute’s commitment to professional and technological training, opening doors for young people and adults who wish to enter fields such as oil and gas, occupational safety, health, fashion, and administration.
Free Technical Training and Quality Education
The technical courses at IFRJ aim to prepare students for the job market with solid, practical, and up-to-date training. Classes will take place in-person at the institution’s campuses, combining theoretical subjects, laboratory practices, seminars, forums, and assessments.

Get a 100% free online degree at the Federal Institute: IFRN offers 40 spots in Internet Systems with selection based on ENEM scores (2021–2025), applications until 04/05, fee of R$ 25, and admission in 2026.
The workload varies according to the course, lasting between two and six semesters, in addition to the mandatory supervised internship in various programs. The Community Health Agent course, for example, will have classes twice a week in full-time, while the Oil and Gas course will be offered in the evening shift, facilitating access for those who already work.
Technical Courses Offered Throughout the State of Rio de Janeiro
IFRJ is offering 18 options for technical courses in different fields of knowledge:
Administration, Handicrafts, Fashion Production, Oil and Gas, Occupational Safety, Community Health Agent, Clinical Analysis, Tour Guiding, Internet Computing, Landscaping, and Chemistry
The announcement provides 586 slots in total, equally divided between open competition (50%) and the reserve system for students from public schools (50%). The opportunities are distributed as follows:
- Belford Roxo: courses in Administration, Handicrafts, and Fashion Production;
- Duque de Caxias: Oil and Gas and Occupational Safety;
- Niterói: Administration;
- Pinheiral: Administration and Landscaping;
- Realengo: Community Health Agent and Clinical Analysis;
- Resende: Tour Guiding and Occupational Safety;
- Rio de Janeiro: Chemistry;
- São Gonçalo: Occupational Safety;
- São João de Meriti: Administration and Internet Computing
Benefits and Student Support
IFRJ students have access to student assistance programs, which include financial aid, academic, sports, and cultural scholarships, as well as psychological and pedagogical support.
According to the rector Rafael Barreto Almada, “IFRJ seeks to ensure that no student abandons their studies due to financial difficulties. Our assistance policy is essential to promote retention and academic success.”
Selection Without Exam by Live Lottery on YouTube
The selection process will be conducted through a public electronic lottery, broadcast live on IFRJ’s YouTube channel.
Half of the slots are reserved for open competition, and the other half follows the affirmative action system, which reserves opportunities for students from public schools, people with disabilities, Black, Brown, Indigenous, and Quilombola individuals, in accordance with Law No. 12,711/2012 and 14,723/2023
Candidates can choose to compete through open competition or the reserved slots. All draws and results will be published on IFRJ’s official website.
Requirements to Participate
To register, candidates must be attending the 2nd or 3rd year of high school (concurrent modality) or have completed high school (subsequent modality).
It is necessary to have internet access to fill out the registration form and accurately provide personal information.
Candidates for quotas will need to prove their schooling in a public school and, if applicable, family income and self-declaration of color or ethnicity.
Selection Process Schedule
- Registrations: from November 6 to December 1, 2025
- Final Confirmation of Registrations: December 11, 2025
- Public Electronic Lottery: December 15 and 16, 2025
- Announcement of Results: December 19, 2025
- Document Submission for Enrollment: from January 7 to 14, 2026, according to the candidate’s group
- Final Result of Affirmative Actions: January 27, 2026
- Reclassification: starting from January 27, 2026
- Beginning of Classes: February 2026
The certificate issued at the end of the course has national validity and enables the student to work professionally in their field of training.
