Shotcrete replaces manual plastering, can double or even triple productivity on site, and delivers more uniform walls; this industrialized technique has been gaining ground precisely where there is a lack of skilled labor.
Gabriel mentioned that the company will invest in building a new industrial park and also in modernizing its headquarters. The current unit of the company occupies 25,000 square meters and has the capacity to process 100 tons of steel per day. With the new investments, the expectation is that the size will increase to 40,000 square meters.
The investments from Amapá will also involve a new factory in the Northeast: ”This is a bigger project. The initial plan called for acquiring a facility in the region, but we had to decline. At this moment, we’re charting new paths to make the investment – either through acquisition or new construction – still this year”.
The R$ 50 million investments are expected to enable Amapá to double its production capacity by 2025. The investments will also greatly benefit the job market. The company is expected to grow from about 570 current jobs to over a thousand by the end of next year. That is, more than 500 job positions are anticipated to be created.
The year 2020 was very good for the company, despite all the issues caused by the pandemic. Today, Amapá is witnessing a market rebound: ”Since mid-last year, we’ve been seeing a return in consumption, which has positively surprised us; in addition, many of our customers are part of the so-called essential sectors, such as supermarkets and pharmacies, and continue to demand our products strongly‘, said the marketing manager.
