The revitalization and expansion project has a clear focus on increasing safety and traffic flow, essential for the logistics of agribusiness production and for the mobility of thousands of people.
The formalization of the contract marks the beginning of a new era for the highway, with works already underway and an ambitious schedule for the coming years.
Details Of The New Contract And The Transition
The new BR-163 agreement is characterized by its duration and scope. The renewed contract is valid for 29 years, with the possibility of extension for another 20 years, as provided in the agreement signed with ANTT.
This longevity ensures the continuity of investments and stability in the management of the highway.
Operations will continue with the previous concessionaire, but with a new identity: MSVia, which was previously responsible for the highway, will still manage the operations, but now under a new name: Motiva Pantanal.
The transition of the concession brings with it the promise of new investments, but also the need for adjustments.
The document also states that adjustments to toll rates will need to be made after the transition period, an important point for the users of the highway.
The change, however, is justified by the promise of a safer, modern highway with the necessary infrastructure to support the flow of passenger and freight vehicles that is vital for the region.
Works And Improvements Along The Highway
The promise of improvements is already being realized.
The works envisioned in the new contract have already begun, and can be seen in various areas.
The services for the implementation of additional lanes in the municipality of Mundo Novo are underway in three distinct sections: between kilometers 7.760 and 9.530, 11.080 and 11.540, and 28.700 and 31.240.
The duplication, the central point of the project, is also advancing.
Also, the duplication in Campo Grande, between kilometers 454 and 452 and 454 and 460, and in Jaraguari, at kilometer 510.
In addition to the duplication, the package of improvements along BR-163 in Mato Grosso do Sul is vast and detailed, including:
- 203 kilometers of duplication;
- 147 kilometers of additional lanes;
- 23 kilometers of access roads;
- five urban bypasses;
- wildlife crossings, ensuring the safety of animals and drivers;
- 4G network throughout the highway, a crucial technological advancement for communication;
- three rest stops for truck drivers, providing safety and infrastructure for the professionals on the road;
- And the installation of various operational devices, such as roundabouts, intersections, and accesses, that optimize flow and reduce the risk of accidents.
The Massive Investment And The New Infrastructure
The investment for all these works is substantial. The total estimated value for these works is R$ 9.3 billion.
This billion-dollar figure reflects the complexity and importance of the project for national infrastructure.
The new management of BR-163 promises to transform the highway into a more efficient and safe logistics corridor, prepared for the state’s growth and the challenges of freight transportation.
The population of Mato Grosso do Sul, which relies daily on BR-163, can expect a completely renovated highway, with greater capacity, more technology, and a primary focus on the safety of all its users.
