The world has bet on green hydrogen as the fuel of the future, but now faces the side effect: producing 1 kilogram requires about 9 liters of ultrapure water, and the largest projects on the planet are precisely in the driest regions of the Earth, where water is already scarce for people.
Tamboril – Goiás
The PCH Tamboril, the first of the four plants, has an installed capacity of 15.8 MW — equivalent to the approximate consumption of 13 thousand houses, with investments of around R$ 110 million.
Representing the Minister of Mines and Energy, Bento Albuquerque, the Secretary of Planning and Energy Development of the MME, Paulo César Magalhães, was present at the ceremony.
Paulo emphasized the importance of small hydroelectric power plants for the security of the Brazilian energy matrix.
“For us, it is a great source of pride to inaugurate the PCH of Tamboril, which will join the other 421 PCHs and 746 Hydroelectric Generating Stations (CGHs) already in operation in the country,” he said.
