The company Vulcabras Azaleia, which acquired the operation of Mizuno in the Northeast, is a manufacturer of famous brands such as Olympikus, Under Armour, Opanka, and Dijean.

The CEO of Vulcabras, Pedro Grendene, and André Bartelle, an executive of the group, went to Ceará and, along with the governor, announced the expansion of activities.

The governor highlighted that Ceará is one of the largest hubs in Brazil for shoe production and that the company Vulcabras currently has a large factory installed in Horizonte, in the Metropolitan Region of Fortaleza, where it currently generates nearly nine thousand direct jobs.

With the acquisition of the Mizuno brand, the new investment is expected to generate around three thousand new jobs for the people of Ceará.

During the announcement, the governor emphasized that Ceará is one of the largest hubs for shoe production in Brazil. “Now, all production of Mizuno sneakers in Brazil will come from Ceará. These are new investments that the group will make in its factory and will generate around three thousand new jobs,” said Camilo. The governor also informed that Vulcabras has already hired more workers after the return of activities that had been suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.

According to him, the company did not lay off any workers during the process of resuming activities. “This was an appeal we made to Ceará’s business people and investors, the guarantee of job maintenance,” he reported.

Vulcabras / Azaleia Investment

Vulcabras closed a deal with Alpargatas worth R$ 32.5 million for the purchase of the business unit related to the operation of the Mizuno brand in Brazil, according to a relevant fact from both companies released on Monday (21). The company currently generates around 14 thousand jobs in the country.

“The closing of the operation is subject to the fulfillment of certain precedent conditions, including the separation of such business unit into a new company, the signing between Vulcabras and Mizuno Corporation of a distribution agreement, and the approval of the operation by the Brazilian Competition Defense System, and will only occur after meeting these requirements”, said Alpargatas in a statement.

With the completion of the deal, Vulcabras will celebrate a licensing agreement and will be able to produce Mizuno brand products in the country, including footwear, apparel, and accessories, and sell the products directly to consumers, through its own stores and the Mizuno website, for a “period that will exceed 10 years”
