The approval is valid for two years (2026 and 2027) and needs to be renewed at the end of the period. Among the requirements are: not owning another property, residing in the property of up to 300 m² of total area and 100 m² of constructed area, having an income of up to three minimum wages, and not engaging in paid activities.
In Mongaguá (SP), the deadline for request is shorter: until August 31. In this city, retirees can obtain a 50% discount on the IPTU, with a request made in person at the City Hall, from Monday to Friday, during business hours.
In Navegantes (SC), requests for exemption from the IPTU and the waste fee must be made until August 29. The benefit is intended for seniors aged 65 or older and families with incomes of up to three minimum wages.
