USP, One of the Most Renowned Universities in Brazil, Has Just Launched an Online Specialization in Neuroscience and Learning in Education. This Course Aims to Qualify Professionals to Apply Innovative Neuroscience Techniques in the Educational Environment.

According to the institution, USP/Esalq is offering a specialization course in Neuroscience and Learning in Education, fully online. The course has a workload of 360 hours, including 40 hours dedicated to the Final Project (TCC).

Classes take place on Wednesdays from 7 PM to 11 PM and are recorded so that students can rewatch them at any time. The specialization lasts for 18 months.

Target Audience and Registrations

The course is aimed at teachers, school administrators, psychologists, psychopedagogists, psychomotor therapists, and speech therapists, among other professionals interested in deepening their knowledge in neuroscience and its pedagogical applications. Registrations are now open and must be done online.

The registration fee is R$ 100, and classes start on November 13. The monthly fee can be paid by bank slip or credit card, with a 15% discount for timely payments. Attendance to classes is accounted for by taking tests, requiring a minimum presence of 75%. If a student cannot attend live classes, they can watch the recordings without penalty. Free Neuroscience Course for Teachers

In addition to the specialization, as recently published by CPG, USP offers a free course in Applied Neuroscience to Education, with 10,000 slots available for basic education teachers from all over Brazil. This is an unmissable opportunity for those looking to expand their knowledge and apply new techniques in the classroom.

Details of the Free Course

The free course will be taught by the Faculty of Philosophy, Sciences, and Letters of Ribeirão Preto at USP and will have a total workload of 32 hours, spread over four weeks. Classes will be held from August 4, 2024, to November 30, 2024, all online, allowing teachers from any part of the country to participate.

Syllabus

During the course, participants will explore essential topics to understand how the brain functions and its influence on learning.

  • First Week: Basic concepts about the central nervous system, relating the brain to behavior and demystifying neuromyths.
  • Second Week: Specialized cells of the nervous system, identifying cell types and understanding neurotransmission.
  • Third Week: Neuroplasticity, illustrating how behavior can alter brain function.
  • Fourth Week: Memory and learning, discussing the differences between short-term and long-term memory and the structures of the nervous system related to these processes.

Registrations and Slots

To enroll in the free course and secure one of the 10,000 slots, interested parties must access the registration link on the USP website. Registrations close on July 31, 2024, or as soon as the slots are filled.
