The Kia K4 has arrived in the Portuguese market as a new bet from the brand in the C segment, a category dominated by medium hatches like the Volkswagen Golf. The model enters Europe with a 1.0 turbo engine, a design inspired by Kia’s new global language, and an entry price equivalent to around R$ 168,000 in direct conversion, without considering Brazilian taxes, freight, importation, homologation, or commercial margin.
According to Executive Digest, based on the prices set by Astara, Kia’s representative in Portugal, the K4 starts at 28,490 euros for private customers in the 1.0 T-GDI Tech version. Considering the reference exchange rate of the European Central Bank close to R$ 5.90 per euro, the amount corresponds to approximately R$ 168,000 in direct conversion.

According to Executive Digest, the new Kia K4 strengthens the brand’s offering in Portugal with internal combustion engines and mild electrified solutions, assuming a design aligned with the Opposites United design philosophy, already seen in more recent Kia models.
The market reading is direct: the K4 arrives to occupy the space left by the Ceed in Kia’s European strategy, offering a medium hatch with family appeal, a strong technological package, and a competitive entry price for the segment.
Converted price exceeds R$ 168,000 but does not represent sales value in Brazil
The price of 28,490 euros announced in Portugal is equivalent to approximately R$ 168,000 in direct conversion. The calculation considers an exchange rate close to R$ 5.90 per euro, according to a recent reference from the European Central Bank for the euro against the real.
This account serves only as a comparison for the Brazilian reader. It does not include import taxes, IPI, ICMS, international freight, homologation costs, dealership margin, exchange rate variation, or Brazilian commercial strategy.
In practice, if a model like this were officially sold in Brazil, the final price could be very different. Even so, the conversion shows the size of the difference between the European market for medium hatches and the Brazilian reality, where this type of car has practically disappeared from stores.
1.0 Turbo Engine Delivers 115 hp and Announced Consumption of Up to 5.9 l/100 km
According to Executive Digest, the Kia K4 sold in Portugal uses a 1.0 T-GDI engine with 115 hp. In the Tech version, the set comes with a six-speed manual gearbox.

The GT-Line version uses the same 1.0 T-GDI engine but adds a mild-hybrid system and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission DCT, according to the Portuguese publication.
The announced average consumption is 5.9 l/100 km for the conventional 1.0 T-GDI version and 5.7 l/100 km for the 1.0 T-GDI MHEV variant, according to data released for the Portuguese market.
Interior Space and Trunk Make the K4 a Family Alternative to Compact SUVs
Although the Brazilian market has strongly migrated to SUVs, the Kia K4 shows that the medium hatch still holds its ground in European markets with a rational proposal: good interior space, competitive trunk, and embedded technology.
According to Executive Digest, the K4 offers 964 mm of legroom in the rear seat, 973 mm of headroom, and a trunk of up to 438 liters, measured by the VDA standard.
These numbers place the model in an interesting range for families who want space without necessarily migrating to an SUV. It is precisely this type of car that the Brazilian consumer has practically stopped finding in generalist brand dealerships.
Panoramic Dashboard, Digital Controls, and Driving Assistants Reinforce the Technological Package
The interior of the K4 opts for a more sophisticated presentation than that of common compact hatches. According to Executive Digest, the model integrates the Connected Car Navigation Cockpit system, combining a digital dashboard, multimedia center, and climate control commands in a panoramic composition.
The configuration combines a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 5.3-inch climate control screen, and a 12.3-inch multimedia center, in addition to wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Among the equipment mentioned for the Tech version are dual-zone automatic air conditioning, four USB-C ports, rear camera, front and rear parking sensors, light and rain sensors, intelligent cruise control, and full LED lighting.
7-year warranty and production in Mexico reinforce Kia’s global strategy
Like other models of the brand sold in Portugal, the K4 comes with a seven-year or 150,000 km factory warranty, according to Executive Digest.
The model is produced at Kia’s factory in Pesquería, Nuevo León, Mexico, a unit that, according to the publication, received an investment of US$ 150 million in 2023 to accommodate the new car.
The Kia K4 draws attention not only for its converted price or the 1.0 turbo engine. It stands out because it represents a type of car that has been losing ground in Brazil: a medium hatch with a good trunk, strong technology package, efficient engine, and family proposal without becoming an SUV.

While Portugal receives the model for about R$ 168,000 in direct conversion, Brazilian consumers look at a market dominated by compact SUVs, increasingly expensive medium sedans, and entry-level hatches with a very different proposal.
