The eighth generation of the Hyundai Elantra was presented during the Busan Mobility Show 2026. The sedan gained a new look, artificial intelligence, more onboard technology, and structural changes that enhance interior space and connectivity.
Hyundai officially presented, in June 2026, during the Busan Mobility Show in South Korea, the eighth generation of the Hyundai Elantra. In the South Korean market, the model continues to be called Avante.
Additionally, the sedan was completely redesigned after six years of the previous generation. Thus, the model received a new design, new internal architecture, digital technologies, and updated driver assistance systems.
According to information released by Hyundai, the renewal follows the brand’s strategy to expand vehicle digitalization and accelerate the evolution of so-called software-defined vehicles (SDV).

On the other hand, it is worth remembering that the Hyundai Elantra was once marketed in Brazil, mainly during its fifth generation. However, currently, the sedan remains out of the Brazilian market.
New design expands dimensions and reinforces the sporty look
In addition to technological innovations, the Hyundai Elantra 2026 completely abandons the style of the previous generation.
In contrast, the sedan now uses the manufacturer’s latest visual language. This concept was also applied to the newly launched Hyundai i20 in Brazil.
Additionally, the body became wider and lower. Similarly, the rear fenders received more volume, reinforcing the sporty profile.
At the front, the headlights were divided into two levels.
Meanwhile, the extremely narrow LED daytime running lights create a light signature inspired by the letter “H”.
The main headlights remain positioned at the edges of the bumper and integrated into the air intakes.
At the rear, in turn, the interconnected horizontal taillights visually expand the vehicle’s width.
Additionally, the bumper received aerodynamic elements, while the trunk lid now features a cleaner design.
Dimensions of the Hyundai Elantra 2026
- Length: 4,765 mm;
- Width: 1,855 mm;
- Height: 1,425 mm;
- Wheelbase: 2,750 mm.
Compared to the previous model, the following were added:
- 55 mm in length;
- 30 mm in width;
- 30 mm in wheelbase.
Consequently, the internal space was expanded for the occupants.
Pleos Connect concentrates practically all vehicle functions
However, the main evolution happens inside.
The Hyundai Elantra 2026 debuts the Pleos Connect system, a platform based on Android Automotive.
Thus, practically all vehicle functions are concentrated in this digital environment.
Depending on the version, the multimedia center uses screens of 12.9 or 14.6 inches.
Additionally, a narrow display was installed near the windshield to show the main driving information.
Despite the digitalization, physical controls were retained for functions considered essential.
Gleo AI and app store enhance connectivity
Among the main new features is Gleo AI.
The virtual assistant was developed based on generative language models.
Thus, the system allows for natural language conversations, answers questions, suggests routes, assists in travel planning, and executes voice commands.
Additionally, the Pleos App Market debuts.
The platform will allow the installation of streaming apps, entertainment, and other services directly in the vehicle.
The internal environment also offers:
- Ambient lighting;
- Dual induction charger;
- 100 W USB-C ports;
- Over-the-air updates (OTA);
- Digital key;
- Bang & Olufsen sound system;
- 360-degree view cameras.
2.0 Engine and hybrid version confirmed
Initially, Hyundai confirmed two mechanical configurations for the South Korean market.
The first uses a 2.0 naturally aspirated gasoline engine, with 149 hp. The engine delivers 26 hp more than the old 1.6 engine.
Meanwhile, the second option is a full hybrid (HEV) set.
The system combines a 1.6 gasoline engine with an electric motor.
Together, they deliver 157 hp of combined power.
Additionally, the hybrid version incorporates intelligent energy regeneration, predictive battery management based on navigation, and a mode that keeps climate control and multimedia functioning during stops, even with the combustion engine off.
Launch happens in the third quarter of 2026
Finally, Hyundai confirmed that sales of the new generation of the Hyundai Elantra will begin in South Korea during the third quarter of 2026.
So far, prices have not been disclosed yet.
Similarly, it has not been confirmed whether the model will arrive in other markets.
