Lamborghini Reveals The Temerario GT3, Competition Car with 550 hp Twin-Turbo V8 Engine and No Hybrid System!

Lamborghini has launched the new Temerario GT3, a model specifically designed for racing, which completely discards the hybrid system.

Developed from scratch at the brand’s factory, the car features a 550 hp twin-turbo V8 engine and will debut on the tracks in 2026, at the 12 Hours of Sebring. This venture represents a new chapter in the Italian automaker’s sports commitment.

Lamborghini Launches Temerario GT3 with V8 Engine and No Hybrid System

Lamborghini announced this week the official launch of the Temerario GT3, a racing vehicle fully designed to meet the regulations of the GT3 category, without the use of a hybrid system.

The model, based on the street version of the Temerario, will be presented for the first time in March 2026 during the 12 Hours of Sebring in the United States.

Conceived, developed, and produced entirely at Lamborghini’s headquarters in Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy, the new automobile reinforces the brand’s role in the international sports automotive sector.

The decision to eliminate the hybrid engine meets the FIA criteria for GT3 racing and aims to optimize performance and track operability.

Structure Designed for Performance and Agility on Track

The Temerario GT3 structure consists of an aluminum spaceframe chassis, derived from the street model’s production line, but significantly modified for competition.

The changes include a removable rear subframe, optimized for quick access to the engine and transmission, and the removal of elements used in the hybrid system, which is not present in the racing version.

Internally, the composite carbon fiber body has been developed in partnership with Lamborghini’s Centro Stile. The goal was to balance aerodynamics, lightness, and iconic design while maintaining the brand’s visual identity.

550 hp Twin-Turbo V8 Engine Adapted for GT3 Requirements

The heart of the new model is a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, derived from the production version, but completely revised to comply with GT3 regulations.

Without the hybrid system, the mechanical assembly has been modified with a new turbo and intake, delivering up to 550 horsepower — a number subject to adjustments for performance balancing on different tracks.

This engine is equipped with cutting-edge technologies such as a 180° flat crankshaft and titanium connecting rods, which reduce weight and improve response.

The transmission is a six-speed sequential manual, designed for quick gear changes during the race. The exhaust system has been custom-made by Capristo, which specializes in high-performance solutions.

Six-Way Suspension and Intelligent Aerodynamics

The new competition Lamborghini hybrid also features an unprecedented six-way suspension from KW, the same supplier for the SC63 LMDh project.

The system guarantees refined adjustments and allows for quick replacements during practices and races, optimizing time in the pits. The wheels are 18 inches, supplied by Ronal AG.

The aerodynamics of the Temerario GT3 have been optimized to maintain stability at high speeds and ensure balance in turns, with a setup that significantly reduces changes in aerodynamic load. The airflow for the radiators and braking system has also been carefully redesigned.

Cockpit Adapted with Help from Official Lamborghini Drivers

The interior of the GT3 has been shaped with assistance from drivers Marco Mapelli and Andrea Caldarelli, who provided feedback on ergonomics and operation during long races.

The steering wheel has been custom-designed, with easily accessible buttons and a new electronic control and telemetry system.

Additionally, the onboard electronic system has received a complete update with a new digital dashboard, enhanced data collection, and a personalized interface for professional drivers and clients.

Debut Scheduled and Support for Teams with Huracán GT3

The debut of the Temerario GT3 is confirmed for March 2026, at the traditional 12 Hours of Sebring in the United States.

During the transition phase, Lamborghini will maintain technical support for teams continuing to compete with the Huracán GT3 while preparing the new model for global tracks.

According to Stephan Winkelmann, president and CEO of Lamborghini, “Building on the sporting and commercial success of the Huracán GT3 project, with which we won 96 championships and sold over 200 units, we’ve always had competition versions in mind since the beginning of the Temerario project. The Temerario GT3 will set a benchmark for its competitors, just as the street Temerario has.”
