Londrina Utility Tests With Solar Energy
The Londrina utility, Sercomtel Iluminação, has begun testing using LED lamps that have the capacity to store and convert solar energy into nighttime lighting, thus aiming for a public lighting system based on solar energy technology.
To achieve this goal, Sercomtel will use two models of solar lamps, one called “SMD” (Surface Mounted Diode), which has a certain versatility and is also compact in relation to the LED components.

In a historic decision, Aneel regulates the use of batteries in the Brazilian electrical system and lays the groundwork for large-scale energy storage, reducing waste, enhancing energy security, and attracting new billion-dollar projects.
The two models have a difference in Watts, one being 120 watts and the other 180 watts. They have already been installed on a particular street near the farms in the southern region, where they will remain for a period that is still being defined.
Sercomtel President Says Models Are Still In Test Phases
According to the president of Sercomtel Iluminação, Luciano Kühl, the company is still testing the models they will use to see if the expectations placed on them will be met. “If approved, we can establish a deployment process for Londrina,” he emphasized.
Solar Energy-Based Technology For Londrina Lighting Is Top-Notch, Say Sercomtel Technicians
According to technicians from Sercomtel Iluminação, the models to be used have top-notch technology.
According to the manufacturer, each unit can provide, if necessary, a lighting flow of up to 24 hours; however, the models can save energy, thereby increasing the useful life to up to 36 hours of lighting through presence sensors, thus reducing brightness capacity by up to 50%, without traffic flow.
