Company Orders Four More PMAX ECO TRADER Ships, Reinforcing Its Commitment to Sustainability and Fleet Modernization.
Longship announced the expansion of its fleet with the order of four additional eco-friendly ships. These join a previous order, totaling eight potential new vessels. The new ships aim to optimize fuel consumption and incorporate green technologies.
Order and Construction Details of the Ships
The company had already made an initial order for four 6,000 dwt ships in 2024. It was revealed that the dry cargo ships will be built jointly by GS Projects and Ship and Steelbuilding (SaS). Construction will take place at the Dutch shipyard in Waterhuizen. There is an option for four additional units of these ships.
Focus on Sustainability and Energy Efficiency
The new models are part of the PMAX ECO TRADER series. They will feature optimized fuel consumption. The vessels will also showcase eco-friendly technologies. This initiative reinforces Longship’s “commitment to expanding a modern and sustainable fleet.”

Equipment and Certifications of the New Ships
GS Projects has contracted Damen Marine Components (DMC). DMC is a supplier of maneuvering systems. It will provide steering, control, and propulsion equipment for the first four PMAX ECO TRADER vessels. Specifically, the ships will be equipped with DMC’s ‘plug & play’ Piston RAM steering systems. They will also feature Barke rudders and Optima nozzles.
It is expected that the design and engineering of the vessels will meet Lloyd’s Register classification. Additionally, they should follow the ice class 1A specifications of Finland and Sweden for these ships.
Other Orders for Eco-Friendly Vessels by Longship
Longship also has other orders in progress. There are two general cargo ships of 3,700 dwt ordered from GS Projects. These also belong to a series of eco-friendly vessels. Their delivery is expected in 2025.
