Brazil About to Become One of the Largest Economies in the World! This Was the Promise Made by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva During His Official Visit to Chile. But Will Brazil Really Achieve This Feat in 2024?
The declaration was made on Monday (05) at the conclusion of the Brazil-Chile Business Forum, an event that brought together around 500 businesspeople from both countries and aims to strengthen trade relations and provide new business opportunities.
“If Brazil and Chile reach a trade of R$ 13.5 billion, this represents the strengthening of our continent”, declared Lula, emphasizing the importance of good relations with Latin American countries for socio-economic agreements.
Lula reinforced that integration with neighboring countries has once again become a priority for Brazil, which generates confidence to negotiate and invest. He mentioned the signing of 19 agreements that directly impact economic and trade relations, including areas such as agriculture, combating climate change, tourism, science and technology, and reducing inequalities.

Force of Latin American Entrepreneurship
The significant participation of entrepreneurs in the event reflects the strength of Latin American entrepreneurship, affirmed Lula. The meeting was organized by the Brazilian Agency for the Promotion of Exports and Investments (Apex Brazil) and included the presence of important partners, such as the Chilean-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce and the Brazil-Chile Business Council.
According to Jorge Viana, president of Apex Brazil, the expected investments could reach R$ 82 million, the highest so far in bilateral events.
Advances and New Partnerships of Brazil
During his speech, Lula took stock of the actions and investments, highlighting that Brazil is on track to being the eighth-largest economy in the world by 2024. He mentioned that Chilean entrepreneurs will have excellent opportunities in the New PAC and in the New Industry Brazil Program.
The New PAC includes two routes of integration with Chile: the Capricórnio Route, connecting Mato Grosso do Sul to Paraguay, Argentina, and Chile, and the Porto Alegre-Coquimbo Corridor, linking Rio Grande do Sul to Uruguay, Argentina, and Chile.
Partnership in Agriculture
Among the agreements signed during Lula’s visit to Chile is a Memorandum of Understanding for technical cooperation in agriculture between the ministries of agriculture of both countries.
The main objective is to foster the development of agricultural systems through the joint implementation of programs and projects.
The Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Carlos Fávaro, highlighted that the resumption of good relations with trade partners brings new perspectives for national agriculture. Chilean President Gabriel Boric also emphasized the importance of the relationship between the countries and the signed agreements.
In addition to the agreements in the agricultural sector, two other agreements were signed: one on electronic certification of wines and alcoholic beverages, aimed at improving the flow of Chilean wines to Brazil, and one on mutual recognition of Organic Certification, to facilitate trade between the two countries and stimulate the inclusion of small and medium producers in the exporting market.
With so many promises and agreements, it remains to be seen: will Brazil really be able to become one of the largest economies in the world still in 2024? Share your opinion in the comments and join this discussion!
